Hi guys!

We just sent our package yesterday on May2nd.I got an online tracking report it was recieved by the Vermont Center today and was signed for by P.NOVAK.

I am just requesting everyone who has gone thru this process to tell me , what happens now? When do I get my one year extension and stuff. Please respond.I am very anxious. My extension is extremely important as my future in Medicine depends on it.I have been accepted at a residency program and it starts on July 1st.I have to submit proof by the first week of June. Will it happen for me?

Any input appreciated.

And other people on this forum, who are submitting their papers in May , lets keep each other posted.

Thanks in advance for all your support.

Hi guys,

we have been married for over 4 years now. Will they send the extension letter soon? Will they call us for an interview?

Please respond somebody!

Thanks.

Welcome to the waiting room. As of Monday, May 1st, Vermont has revised its time table to get application recorded and case numbers assigned. It used to be 30 days to log in and send out your case number, now it is 45 days. I just made it - see my time line. As long as your conditional green card has not expired, you should be okay. If you still need proof, then schedule yourself an Infopass and ask about getting a I-551 stamp. I believe this will show that you have a I-751 pending. May be someone else can shed some more light on this subject.

Good luck.

Hi j-manu,

Thanks so much for your helpful reply.

My conditional Green card doesn't expire till the mid of July, but the residency program will want to see that I have a permanent Green card before I sign the official contract with them in mid-June.They will accept the one year extension, but wont let me sign the contract if my green card is expiring in a month of my signing the contract.

I could not send the application earlier as it would fall out of the 90 day window period. so what are my options now?

will I get the official one year extension from them or some notice that says my I-751 is pending, by the end of May?.How soon should I make the Infopass appointment?

Please reply.

Thanks.

sgillgutti,

I don't know how soon you can. When you are able to get the I-551 stamp, they will be able to do it at the time of the Infopass appointment. Go on line and schedule yourself an appointment the week before you need to present your extension to your employer. If you have a receipt of delivery of your I-751, bring that with you. From what I read before, they will check to see if you have been logged in. If you have, then it is a slam dunk - you will get your I-551 stamp. I do not know how quickly Vermont will have you logged in. They now have 45 days from receipt of your I-751.

When you get your I-551 stamp (in your passport), they will take your CGC.

This sounds as if you are going down to the wire. May be schedule yourself an appointment a week ahead of time and then sechedule a second appointment for the morning that you actually need the stamp. I am not sure if the system will allow you to do that, but you can try.

Hi,

Its taking longer than 30 days for them to cash the check. So stop being anxious. Hopefully you will hear from them by early June. You should have sent it in mid-April if its expiring mid-July. I would follow J-Manu's advice and make an InfoPass appointment anyways. Plus you should show HR the receipt of your package by the Vermont Service Center and print the dates they are currently processing. I don't see how they can make such a big deal and insist that if you don't have a letter by June, they won't let you sign the contract. I work in Medicine too and I'm sure they can't stop you from signing if your card expires mid-July. But I would follow J-Manu's advice and get the stamp for peace of mind.

Hi c-mat,

Thank you so much for your post and sensible advice. It really helps:) Are you a physician as well into residency?

I have heard about people who have been denied residency even after signing the contract if their conditional Green card was expiring.

Hope my Program is a little more understanding. But I am still waiting to take the Infopass appointment, because I don't have the receipt number that the online form asks for.I hope I get the receipt number from USCIS in the coming week so I can at least schedule an Info pass appointment. Please let me know about the Info pass if you have any info on that.

Thanks a ton, really appreciate your reply.
