Hi Guys,

Please see the brief timeline below summarizing the progress of our I-129F journey.  I have tried searching for a similar experience on VisaJourney, but came up empty.  What are your guys thoughts?  Have any of you seen this before? Is it time for me to consider contacting my congresswoman for assistance? Or should I try contacting the USCIS myself in a week for clarification?  As you can see by the brief timeline we have now been waiting patiently for our case number for 4 months.  While we would like to see positive progress made in our journey, at the very least we would like to understand what is going on.  Thanks in advance for your input.

  • Petition was originally approved on November 20, 2017 and that case was being sent to NVC; we did receive a NOA2
  • I contacted the USCIS on January 23, 2018; Officer indicated that they would  be sending petition to the NVC
  • On February 1, 2018 we received a second NOA2 stating the petition was approved with an approval date of January 31, 2018 and that case was being sent to NVC
  • On February 14, 2018 we received an email from USCIS stating that the Department of State had sent our case back to USCIS for review
  • Now on March 28, 2018 we received an email from USCIS stating that they have reopened our case.
  • As a side note, both of the emails indicate that our case status is: "Post Decision Activity"

Given that it can be hard to get satisfactory info from USCIS, I didn't bother calling them.  Therefore, I don't know for sure why it was reopened. However, I think I have a good guess for why it was reopened. As you see in my post, the Department of State sent our case back for review. Logically, it would make sense that in order for the USCIS to review the case further, the case would need to be reopened as it was probably closed when they approved it. At any rate, in our case the USCIS approved the petition again on April 5th. If your case is similar to ours, then my hope is that you will receive a response soon. I wish I could offer more input. Best of luck in your visa journey. 🙂

Thank you so much for answering me!
We have called USCIS and they said it is approved on their system so it was most likely an error from their system!
Hoping for the best, our case hasnt made to NVC yet..

thank you so much!
