Mental effects of the immigration process

It's a long and difficult process as we all know. Now, I don't like being a person to complain or talk about how down I'm feeling because 1) I know there are many others worse off than I and 2) I don't want/like people to think I want attention or something.

If our papers were processed at the same rate as (almost) everyone else's we would be done by now and my husband would have his green card. We were kind of counting on that. Without going into a long drawn out sob sorry, circumstances seem to have changed dramatically. Financially, economically. And honestly, if his case was processed in the order received, we would never be in this situation now.

I am so depressed. And today a switch has flipped in me, I really have no hope.

Waiting and waiting, even though he's here with me, is not the same as him being here legally (ie. able to get a job and make money) and worrying if he will somehow get sent away.

I have no money for therapy or, trust me, I would do it. Esp after my psychological evaluation for the i601a waiver at which point he recommended I pursue regular therapy due to past issues.

How have you all dealt with the mental effects this has cause you?

Hi I'm sorry you're feeling down. Yes I felt similar. I'm adjusting my husband's status and I had to become a citizen first. Before I could file for him I was always afraid that we'd get separated. I became a citizen and I filed for his adjustment the same day. I feel better since. Knowing he know has a status. However we're still waiting for an interview. Since I'm naturalized I don't know how that will go. The financial drain I understand too. It took a while for us both to work but now we do and it's such a relief. Please don't lose hope. I know it's exhausting but you can always come here and talk to us.

He is here illegally?

@little immigrant thank you. That's great everything is working out so far. Waiting is the battle, not all the paperwork. He misses his family, and there just doesn't seem like a win-win option for us unless/until this is approved.

As that is one of the requirements to file our waiver, yes

Just to clarify as most such threads here are about people waiting the year or so for the visa and are doing the long distance thing.

My husband is missing his family too. Technically we could travel on AP but we decided to wait.
