LOL.... well that brings back memories actually. Back in the day their first foray into group messaging was chatrooms. Man we gave 'em hell back then... and that experiment quickly ended. I have long assumed that they have kept records of any and all activity even private texts, voice chats, and emails. This will take it to a new extreme. However I know from experience they do not have enough staff to be actively monitoring anyone for naughty language or things done while using their services 24-7. This is actually a typical TOS, and will be decried by some, like this gentleman who raises excellent points. But this is likely not as extreme as he posits. This is to cover their backsides in situations where they have to remove content and ban accounts for legit complaints, or when law enforcement comes to them for records. Under new laws they don't want lawsuits saying they allowed sex trafficking on their services without having measures to investigate. This new TOS doesn't define what constitutes offensive language. Is it racist and sexually abusive language or is it basic swear words. It needs clarification.

Oooof... I know, wait until they realize they sell copies of Saints Row (it's pretty much got *everything*). Where else can you run around in a gimp costume or naked and beat people to death with a giant purple.. ummm...... thingymabob?

"In a March 1 release, Microsoft is warning customers using Office, Xbox, Skype, and other products that the company is prohibiting offensive language and inappropriate content starting on May 1. “Don’t publicly display or use the Services to share inappropriate content or material (involving, for example, nudity, bestiality, pornography, offensive language, graphic violence, or criminal activity),” Microsoft warns in a portion of their new codes of conduct."

At first I thought the article was about Xbox Live, since people posting here seemed to be focusing on video games. I actually wouldn't have a problem with them saying they are going to be more strict with their enforcement. That is their right when they are providing that internet service.

The one that is the most hilarious is Office. So are they going to start punishing people for writing pornographic fiction in office? What about just romance novels? Maybe all those authors will need to switch from Office to something...can't keep writing about "raging hard members" and such anymore.

I can just imagine you start writing bad words and the paper clip pops up saying "I don't think you meant to say that..."

So basically they are gone to ban all the teenagers that will be schooling us old folk during the video games? This will help us level the playing field.

I think so far this is one of those threads we are all in agreement on and are actually laughing waiting to see how they will enforce this.
