London doesn't cut the corner like some embassies do. They leave the envelope intact and sealed. Although the envelopes are very thin and cheap and if you have any more than 10 pages in there (mine was almost 300) they are useless. By the time I reached POE my envelope had almost fallen apart. During the flight I kept it in a very large plastic zip wallet that I got from Staples.

Thanks for sharing your experience. You've been in US, beyond doubt the envelope did not cause you too much trouble

As promised, an update about this issue: I have enter US now, the officer did not look at or ask about the rips at all, he just opened the envelope from the rips!
