I can't state with any certainty on this, but with an IT background, I would just wait and check again later - even possibly using a different computer and/or browser...  That somewhat seems like it may have been a back end database connection error, which should get resolved and was probably just a transient error....

If you continue to have difficulties, then you would want to take further action (including checking your computer for potential viruses etc.)

I  got you I am into IT as well, I am just wondering if the backend server caused that, maybe a glitch I don't know, I called them and the representative said there was no problem with the case. Besides, the voice interactive command from 1800 number also said the same thing - the receipt number cant be found

Hey thanks, but I couldn't comprehend that , please, explain better

There was a similar issue with somebody...  Unfortunately, with the dynamic way that the site lists topics by default, it can be hard to find a comment based on how it was displayed to somebody else; all I recall is I saw a snippet of a similar question as well...

Similar issue here.  After checking my wife's status on the USCIS case status page, I get the following error:

Validation Error(s)
You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:

  • User-Defined Error

The other two cases (I-131 and I-765) cases still show that they were received, but the I-485 case is having issues...

have you checked before without the error? if yes then it is their system

The last time I checked was a couple of weeks ago after we got her fingerprints read.  All three had the same message that they were received at the end of January.  The I-131 and I-765 still have the same message while the I-485 has the error message.

I'm getting the same error for my I-485. However the I-131 and I-765 load as normal. I called the USCIS help line and when I input my case number it said the number was not recognised, I spoke to a person and they said they would get a Tier 2 to call me back in the next 3-5 days. Having now seen this post I now suspect it's an error on their end. I've been checking my case on the site a couple times each week for the past 6 months and this is the first time it's happened. Made me panic when I first saw it!

Same with me.  I called in and the automated service said it was not recognized.  After doing a bit more research, it's probably like what you said, and IT error.

This does happen sometimes...their public tracker has been on the fritz since it was introduced, but recently has been more abnormal.

You can also create an account and check your cases here: https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/
