Why do you want to know about my husband's credit? Or his job? I don't think I was talking anything about those things?

Someone mentioned a housing sponsor.

YOU mentioned a “housing sponsor”

such a thing doesn’t exist !

Someone mentioned a housing sponsor.

By housing sponsor they probably mean cosigner for a lease.  Also they are probably curious about credit score and income because why doesn't the USC just rent the apartment and list the other person as an occupant?

I am confused. In order to get CR1, the sponsor / petitioner has to be a US citizen. OP has been asked if the husband was staying with her in the PH prior and moved to the US with her? But she hasnt answered that. But even then, how did the USC husband not have an SSN, knowledge of how renting works, no credit history etc? And then, the claim of landlords not renting to immigrants might be true but again the husband is USC. Some parts are missing in this story.

I have. And of course my husband was living with me. He is my husband. Of course he has a SSN. That is the law. But he did not know there would be an issue, becasue he never married an immigrant before. Neither of us knew. I guess everyone knows this. OK. But how did YOU deal with it? I think that is important to share. Not bash us for being stupid people. Why did we not know about this? I don't know. But what options are out there for others?

We got now:

1. AirBnb

2. Buy a trailer and land

Not sure what else was listed.

OP has been asked too (multiple times, may I add) where the husband was during the visa application process and she ignores those questions. *gets popcorn*

I hope the mods don't shut this thread down just when it is getting interesting! LOL

Well, it seems that OP has been very selective in answering questions whenever some parts of her story were asked for clarification.

and i wasn't bashing you for being stupid. i was honestly trying to understand how your husband could have petitioned / sponsored your CR1 visa to begin with considering all these "obstacles" you mentioned having.

Exactly. I've been long out of the military now; but before the interview I took a loan out of my 401k to ensure I had extra money to spare for him to transition easier,  maybe some new furniture, extra clothing, down payment for car eventually, ect.

That is nice. But we do not have 401k. We have SSS and PagIBIG. And the most we could get barely covered airfare! :P

Oh, thank you for informing me. I was trying to make a connection because OP was asked where in the PH was she from and she has failed to answer so I'm deducing from the info provided.

I do not trust this story at all!

Either some HUGE parts of the story are missing or it’s a big freaking scam!

If you have problems, do not come here. Didn't your mother ever teach you not to say anything if you have nothing nice to say?

I don’t really think many people will need these ideas becauaw they know what they get themselves into.

With that being said, even if one doesn’t know what’s coming...since they need a sponsor/co-sponsor I’m pretty sure MOST if not all will have a place to live.

Your intention of this thread is weird, you only answering specific questions is weird too and the fact that you’re a citizen now and still working on a bank account is just throwing everything over board...

not sure if I should laugh or cry but I definitely love this thread 😁😂

Earlier you said your husband grew up in the US when it was questioned if he lived in the PH too and was just as new to the transition as you. So which is it? Was he living with you in the PH this entire time? Was he living there a short time? Has he lived in the states for most of his life?

You have been REALLY vague about your situation, whether you realize it or not, and this is why so many people are getting frustrated with you and having a hard time grasping this whole story.

If your husband has grown up here... is NOT new to the US or how things work, including housing... then he has dropped the ball significantly for the sake of your relationship, and that's disappointing.

Bottom line - if your husband, a USC, rents or owns anything in his name, as his legal spouse, you should be able to move into that residence as an occupant. If your husband lives somewhere where another individual rents or owns the residence, THEY can also grant you occupancy in their home and consider you an occupant (such as if he were living with parents, a relative, etc.)

If your husband lived here prior to the two of you embarking on this process as a married couple, what was/were the reason(s) you could not move into that existing residence? Your story makes it sound like neither of you have ever lived here or tried to live here before, and came here together from a foreign country. But you said earlier, when someone suggested that to be the case, that it was not the case.

Håll ut, y'all.
