Hi Adam&Allison. My case status just changed on the website. Didn`t get any letter yet. Hopefully that`s it! Fingers crossed!

Interesting. I'm not even going through Washington DC - my local office is Philadelphia, but I'm trying to make an infopass appointment because something quite clearly isn't right somewhere in the process.

I totally understand. This is such a stressfull process! I lost 2 important business trips (and a lot of money) because I didn`t get the AP. I feel like a prisioner here, it`s awfull to not be able to travel or to apply for jobs. It`s a weird limbo where you are not a turist nor a resident. I`m so surprised with this case update that I`m even feeling it`s some bug on the website or so. I`ll just believe when the letter really shows up! Hope you can get your case solved soon as well! Do you have your combo card at least?

I wouldn't be as bothered if their was some transparency somewhere. But to be continuously told time and time again that you're within normal processing times when you're clearly not is the most annoying thing I've ever experienced.

I just had to renew my EAD and AP. My life is effectively on hold until USCIS adjudicate my case, and seeing people come and go in that time frame is absolutely soul crushing.

I can totally sympathize and I consider myself extremely lucky. I don't know if it's a completely random process that some people get through it super fast, but if there's a factor on them choosing me, I'd like to think that the fact that I've been here since 2009 and having had two student visas and OPTs (and a visitor's visa) have got something to do with it. Maybe they already have all the background info on me they needed. Or it could be totally random. Who knows.

Hang in there.

Have the combo card - however I've read horror stories about traveling on Advance Parole so really don't want to do it. I just feel grounded, like I can't even make any plans to leave the state incase the interview letter comes in because getting it re-scheduled is a nightmare. I've had congressmen, senators, USCIS, everyone look into it and nobody gives me a straight answer. They just push you off for their posted processing times, which is 20 months in Philadelphia's case.

Awesome Jakk! Thanks for your answer! When was your interview? Is it fast to get the Green Card after approved?

My interview was on Tuesday last week. I didn't get approved on the spot but I got a notification the day after saying that it was approved. I received a notification yesterday saying that my green card was mailed to me.

They have all that information with K-1's as well - thats why a number of K-1 interviews get approved without an interview. No idea what the hold up is but I'm past the ten month mark now and I'm getting immensely frustrated.

I understant your fear, but my lawyer said there is no problem whatsoever traveling with AP, especially if you were always legal in the US, etc. I`ve been reading some threads of people saying it`s easy, the only thing is that they will put you in a waiting room when you enter the country to check your process, and then they let you go! Maybe try to talk to a lawyer? I think having the right to work and to travel can make the process easier... At least you have your freedom. Hope you can get iyour GC soon. All the best! :)

As a fellow Malaysian :) Congratz and good for you to get yours. I am one of the July 2017 filers, same as Adam who has been waiting for an update regarding interview date. It is frustrated to see Jan filers are getting interview dates smoothly whereas some of us in 2017 hear nothing for months despite we called numerous times requesting to talk to Tier2. All we received are info like "your case is with the local office waiting to be scheduled for interview and it is still within normal processing time, then we are told the average processing time for respective local office are x months (based on the new pilot processing time platform they launched) e.g. Phoenix 14 - 22.5 months, Philly 9 - 19 months..."

Originally we were delaying our relocation plan as we thought we would receive interview dates between May - August. Looking at the situation now, it seems like it won't happen. We've changed our plan to move by end of May, then file for case transfer in June/July after we secure a new place in Philly. It is such a hindrance to wait for the GC prior to proceed with relocation plan. Let the case transfer further delay the processing time, since it isn't like they are gonna be fair by working on 2017 filers first, but focusing on 2018 Filers. Besides, being stuck in a small town Yuma, AZ where unemployment rate is freaking high won't help with jobs even if I've gotten the EAD since March (been applying to jobs too). Bah... enough with whining.. lol I'd just hope for the best for everyone!

Pretty much this. I’m happy for people who are getting approved but it doesn’t seem fair.

Similar occurrence here, filed in mid october, was told I was scheduled for an interview by Dec 2019.  Quick turn around time, might be a function of the location of the local field office. Will need to get medical and other documents together before then.

Hey congratulations!

I made an account here just to reply to u.

Similar time frame to you, I am located in St. Louis and I filed early/mid October and just got the notice yesterday from USCIS that my interview was scheduled.

Now im waiting for an actual mail to come in.

It seems unusually fast and although i'm mostly happy but i am also worried that it might be a sign of something negative.

My attorney said our case is very straightforward and there should not be any problems, maybe thats why it got processed so quick? idk...

Is getting interviewed early a good sign..? lol

You are not being interviewed early,  the uscis had recently started to get through the backlog.   You are normal processing

YMMV

Thank you for your explanation.

I thought it was fast because it took just three months to get the interview notice.

If I may ask, what does "started to get through the backlog" means?

Thank you for your reply again and happy new year!
