I did a lot of research yesterday to confirm this. I don't need the i693 at all. It's not laid out clearly but if your medical for the K1 was done within the last year (and everything was ok) then you don't have to do this part at all. We nearly travelled 2 hours and paid $300 for nothing when we were filing the i485

I've never done the i693 since I came here on the F1 student visa. So I'm gonna have to fork out $300 plus more since my vaccination record is back in Malaysia so they'll probably charge more to check for immunity.

Oh no! That's a shame, good luck! Thankfully mine was done in July last year so I'm all good!

My local office is Washington DC (it's actually Fairfax VA). The USCIS processing times for this field office says 10.5-19.5 months on the website, which is why I'm a little confused why mine is only 3 months.

Sounds very strange to have a line jump like that.

Just posted this on the January filers post but thought I'd copy it here too...

So I just went on another forum that I don't like and their pages are all a buzz with January filers receiving their interview letters but online case status showing employment based instead of family based. It looks like this is far more widespread than I initially thought. I am starting to panic, thinking that maybe there has been some huge error somewhere. I really need my AP or GC before June :( I'll be devastated if this turns out to be a USCIS error.

Uh oh. That definitely sounds weird. Even if they did make an error, I hope they they'll still honor it since plans will have been canceled just to make the interview. But then again it's the government and they can do whatever the hell they want.

I will also need my EAD/AP soon  Thanks for letting me know and let's cross our fingers!

The general view of this is that if we turn up they will have to honor it, but as you said they can do whatever they want. Let's just all hope for the best!!

Hi Julia, I got you here :D lol

Mine medical examine done in my home country August last year just a month after you, so I guess I got the answer that I do not need to have I-693.

Hey Julia, what does your case status say online? When I check my 485 status, it says "Employment-Based Interview was Scheduled". Isn't this weird since mine is family-based and not employment-based, or could it just be a mistake?

One other thing is that the return address on the interview letter envelope says NBC, and not my local office, which is DC. Is yours the same?

I woke up to the same thing this morning "Employment-Based Interview was Scheduled" and mine is family based. I think there is a glitch in the USCIS system. I will show up regardless, it's only a 2 hour drive from me.

Hi everyone,

I`m facing the same thing. I started my process (I-485 based on marriage) on March 14th at Washington DC office and today my case was updated for "Employment-Based Interview Was Scheduled". How long after this notice you got your interview scheduled for? Was there any problem because of this employment-based error? This is so strange because I`m struggling to have my Advance Parole expedited but instead I got this interview scheduled. So good to be true...

Thanks for your help and hope everything goes well with your process!

You filed March 14th and have your interview already!?

Hello. I actually didn't realize that my status was updated until I received the interview letter on 3/26. When I checked the USCIS website, it states the "Employment-Based Interview Was Scheduled" on 3/20. Apparently quite a few of us who filed in January also have the same timeline and also got the "employment-based interview" online status even though we filed based on marriage. There's no error whatsoever. Just attend your interview as scheduled in the notice letter. Mine went fine and I already got approved.

Congrats on getting approved.

It sounds like there's a correlation between this employment based interview status and early 2018 filers. It's odd because nobody from 2017 going through my field office has been scheduled for months, but half a dozen from 2018 (January) have.

It does seem like it. Maybe they're trying something new this year, but it certainly does not affect everybody.

I wouldn't be as bothered if their was some transparency somewhere. But to be continuously told time and time again that you're within normal processing times when you're clearly not is the most annoying thing I've ever experienced.

I just had to renew my EAD and AP. My life is effectively on hold until USCIS adjudicate my case, and seeing people come and go in that time frame is absolutely soul crushing.

Awesome Jakk! Thanks for your answer! When was your interview? Is it fast to get the Green Card after approved?
