Was this subject of the OP trafficking?

Based on the other information we found on this person, it appears that he accepted a plea to possession with intent to deliver (0.1 kg) when he was caught delivering 2-4 pounds to an undercover officer.  Seems to me that he was selling drugs and not just using it for himself.  I consider that trafficking since it is moving the drugs from one place to the other, but I suppose we can just call him a dealer since it appears from the limited information that he was on the end of the distribution chain.  Since he was a general discharge from the service for drug offenses, there may have been prior offenses that added to his sentence.

lawyers prescribe opiates?

One day, part of the wall between Heaven and Hell broke down, and St. Peter called the Devil over to discuss repairs.
"The break definitely came from your side," said Peter, "so I think that it is up to you to fix it."
"Ha!" snorted the Devil.
"In that case," said Peter, "I'm afraid that I'm going to have to sue you."
"Ha!" said the Devil.  "And exactly WHERE would YOU find a lawyer?"

Just trying to look for the silver lining.  Now he can apply for USC and legally re-enter (after his ban is lifted).

It was in the article, he did apply and was declined.

Do we know how the VA will deliver his medical services?

va doesn't exist for 'bad' veterans, only 'good' veterans.

He applied AFTER his drug conviction.  Of course he was denied.  What about the 14 years prior to his felony conviction?

Why would the VA “deliver medical services”?  Nothing says he is entitled to them.

Yeah, that makes about zero sense.

see the previous comment by another poster about not all veterans being 'good' guys, that might help you figure it out.

in my mind, anyone who signs on to possibly sacrifice their lives for this country deserves full citizenship. i was born in this country and i would never - ever serve in the military. by my personal standards -i should be deported over this guy.

So CMTs should be ignored for anyone that serves?

But he had drug offenses while he was in the military.  If we use your feelings that any alien that serves is automatically granted citizenship, what are the parameters?  Do they get citizenship the minute they sign up; Do they have to serve a minimum length of time; Do they have to achieve an honorable discharge, etc.?

an alien that serves a country should no longer be considered an alien in that country. simple as that.

The question is, why are non-citizens even allowed to serve?  Shouldn't people swear the oath of allegiance before being entrusted with America's military power?
