Hello everyone, I am a December 2018  I-130 filer. My priority date is January 2nd.  I would like to know if anyone has submitted the  I-129F forms at some point or another. Just wondering if it is worth submitting. I called the USCIS number and was told that they are working on July 2017 cases, which lead me to believe that it will be a long wait.

 

I cannot access any information online and was told that it is a result of the new website that USCIS is building and that I should check back later.

 

I asked the lady  I spoke with at USCIS if they are accepting the I-129F forms and she told me to follow the instructions on the site for the required documents and submit the I-129F.

For a K-3?  In almost all cases, the I-129f gets closed by USCIS.  Personally, I think it is a waste of time.  @geowrian

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

An I-129F for a spouse (K-3 path) will be matched up with the corresponding I-130. They will typically adjudicate them together (by policy). If the I-130 is approved first, the I-129F will be closed as "Benefit obtained via other means".

If they are adjudicated together, then they wil be sent to NVC. NVC's policy is that is an approved I-129F arrives at the same time or after an approved I-130, then they will administratively close the I-129F and the I-130 will continue for the CR-1/IR-1 visa.

 

Putting the 2 policies together, this creates a path where a K-3 practically exists on paper only. It's honestly a waste of time and stress to pursue it IMO.

10/24/18: Green card produced notice, 10/25/18: Formal approval, 10/31/18: Green card received

K-1

5/1/2017: Case received by Manila (1 week embassy transfer??? Lucky~)

7/13/2017: Interview: APPROVED!!!

7/19/2017: Visa in hand

8/15/2017: POE
