Parkland School Shooting Survivor: Don’t Blame Guns, Blame the ‘Cowards of Broward County'

"The only way to stop an active shooter on campus is to have another person to eliminate him."

While I think that is a perfectly reasonable train of thought...

Wouldn't we all prefer to stop the scenario before there is an active shooter on campus? While it's great if the shooter can be stopped quicker so that "the count" can be lower, it would be ideal if there wasn't a shooter in the first place.

Seeing how many many places don't have active shooters at schools on an almost weekly basis, I don't see how it is unrealistic for us to aim for the same thing in the US.

I agree.  So how do we stop the problem people?

Here are some random facts for all to ponder:

98% of all mass shootings occur in gun free zones

0% of all mass shootings were conducted by a NRA member

67% of all gun deaths are due to suicide

1% of all gun deaths are due to mass shootings

In states that adopted concealed carry, murders dropped 8.5%, rapes dropped 5%, aggravated assault fell by 7%, and robberies went down 3%

So obviously the NRA is to blame.

Didn't he point out that the "authorities" had ample opportunity to stop this before the event commenced?  However, considering how those "authorities" tend to fail beforehand, I think he is perfectly correct in his thoughts regarding more armed guards to mitigate a situation that might occur.

Violent crime has been declining in the US anyway.  It's not limited to concealed carry states.

Great point.  So let’s just drop this anti-gun narrative and all get on with our lives.

Meanwhile, teen DWIs are on the rise, as is the death toll from them.
