Hi there,

We're a british/american couple.

I got a 2 year greencard and applied for removal of conditions around June 2017.

I got 2 receipt numbers. One on the biometrics letter and one on the extension I-797 letter. The biometric one basically said "my case was received, we got your CRI-89 in June 2017".

The number on the I-797 extension didn't work and was "invalid" until just this month where it said "my case was received at my local office March 2018".

I will speak to our lawyer about this for the "official answers" but just wondered if anyone had the same situation or what this means?

I'm not concerned at all about having to do interviews etc if that's what this translates to, my wife and I have been together now for a very long time, but I am simply annoyed by the processing time. Initially I thought (and was told) that the processing time was about a year, but now I have no idea if we wait a year from June 2017 or March 2018. I guess waiting longer is not really an issue, but I'm sure even my extension will have expired by then and that sounds like more effort in a process neither of us have really understood from the beginning.

It seems a lot of people have seen something similar from my Googling!

Thank you!

The year is from initial submission..  Your case has been sent to the local office for interview as that is predominantly the only reason to send your file there.  Unfortunately the local office is a wild card.  Some are quicker than others.

YMMV
