Glad to hear that 2 year requirement isn't an issue for you and your wife.

We did the K-1 visa, my wife was in the USA.

I think I'm going to reprint two copies of the rom tonight and take them to a notary tomorrow. I found one that will notarize two signatures for less than $10 and they're close by work and open late. I figure for less than $10 I'll be already prepared and  know  what to do if our current submission gets denied

Being you filed the I-130 in her married name, she will need her passport changed to her married name .. this requires CFO (DFA requires the CFO certificate to issue the passport in the married name) .. and a PSA issued marriage certificate.

I got my passport from the DFA this year without the CFO seminar (he told me that I'm lucky because just recently they don't need that certification anymore).

BUT, I still need the PSA Marriage certificate to get my married name in my passport.

That is interesting that DFA no longer requires the CFO certificate to acquire a passport in their married name (when married to a foreigner).   Thanks.

CFO will still be required before exiting the country.

Yup. I'm planning to get that next week via CFO Clark, hopefully everything goes well. :)

I only know of a few that completed CFO at Clark, none of them reported having issues there .. seems like a smooth process.

I would believe the document requirements would be the same.

Small update.

After many attempts through different methods I finally got the Chicago embassy to answer a phone call. They do require notarized signatures, but they don't require both signatures to be notarized by the same notary. So it is ok for my wife in the Philippines to get her signature notarized there and for me to get my signature notarized here. The requirement I was seeing for the notary to be either one of their "approved" notaries or get a certification for the notary signature doesn't apply to the Report of Marriage form. That requirement applies to some other forms, I don't remember which they were.

I hope this may help someone researching the topic later

Sounds like a ray of sunshine!

Now get notarized copies in motion.

PS  It would be cheaper to have her print out and sign the form in the Philippines then FedEx it to you ..  FedEx is cheaper FROM the Philippines  ;)

Haha yes that's what we did the first time. Though I don't think she used FedEx. Converted it cost her around $20 to mail it here. Is FedEx cheaper than that in the Philippines?

That is crazy expensive. Can you not use the USPS flat rate international for that?

USPS doesn't exist outside the USA it is handed off to the postal system in the foreign country .. in the Phils it is PhilPost .. and their motto is WE NEVER DELIVER

And that is why I suggest you have your wife print out enough copies (4 if memory serves) and then sign and notarize them before she sends them to you.
