To bad we didn't have the Republicans running Congress. They would make Mexico pay as Trump promised...Oh wait...

Apparently republicans aren't running Congress if they can allow democrats to convince them to vote for such a piece of garbage.

To be fair you need 60 votes which they do not have.

I'm to the point where I would say we should vote out ALL incumbents regardless of party.

I tend to agree that Trump screwed up on this one.  With Chuckie and his gal pal Nancy gleefully boasting, he should have vetoed it and sent those idiots in Congress back to work.  His supporters would have made sure that the DNC was the cause of the government shutdown, but instead, I think he may have guaranteed he will be a one term president.

You can't just randomly choose who is the "cause".

If the Legislature sent a bill to the President's desk and he vetoes it, he is the cause. He can't bull his way around that. Likely why he didn't veto.

Why do republicans need to be convinced? This is the republican platform - talk about limited government principles and do exactly the opposite. Those that actually want to stand by those principles are getting smaller and smaller. They are no longer the party of smaller limited government, reduced regulation, and fiscal conservative spending. Ask any conservative publication, talking-head, or analyst these days and they'll tell you that. They needed no convincing, they embraced it with open arms. If they didn't want to pass it, they didn't have to pass it - shutdown or no shutdown.

I actually agree with you on this in part. There are still a few republicans in Congress who are true conservatives but many are just neocons. The Republican party is splitting into two parties. Those with true conservative views and the neocons who pay lip service to conservative policies but side with the radical left on many issues. Then you have the democrats who for the most part move more and more to the radical left as Trump moves towards the center just for the sake of being anti Trump.

Personally I am neither a Democrat or Republican. I consider myself fiscally conservative socially liberal for the most part. I think political parties should be banned and every candidate should run on their own individual views. Even though I am not a Republican I supported Trump because for the most part up until yesterday he has kept his promises and has done some good things. That doesn't mean I am a kool aid drinking cult follower though. I will call him out when he does something I disagree with like the passing of this disgusting budget bill. I will say this really upsets me and it probably cost Trump a lot of his supporters.

It was Trump or Hillary and who could vote for Hillary?

More people voted for Hillary than Donnie, so I suppose people could vote for Hillary over Donnie.
