Hello everyone,

My case is F2A 2016, i am sponsoring my spouse in Sri Lanka right now.

I just want to ask you all about my case, we are not filling for adjustment of status since my spouse is in his home country right now.  I have been looking through this forum for more detail but i am really getting confused.

This is what I have done so far.

After received NVC case number and invoice ID number, I logged in to fill out the Choice of Agent form

After that, I Paid the Affadavit of Support fee

Then after few days I paid visa fee

Right now I am filling out the Immigrant Visa Application form.

My question is, we are suppose to fill out form I 864. After filling that form, are we suppose to send it out just that form only? or with the IV package?

Any feedback will be greatly appreciate. Thank you so much!!

Hi @lenhuthanhha !!!

The NVC process should be a smooth one, I have no experience in it, but I have seen people getting through it very fluidly, while others get asked for documents to be sent, I would recommend to read carefully to see what they need, since usually they try to be clear about it.

As I said, I have no NVC knowledge, so I decided to do some research  for you, I'll leave you the links, I think they will be useful for you. Based on what I read, you are supposed to send the forms in this order: First the DS-260, then the Affidavit of Support, both guides suggest to take your rime and gather the documents. I guess because not all documents appear as easy, and it is better that they have all they need from the start than getting back requests of a missing document.

Answering your question, it appears as the Affidavit of Support is part of the IV package to send to NVC, along eith the required documentation.

Check DHS guide: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/after-petition-approved/begin-nat-visa-center.html

And read also VisaJourney's guide, there they explain parts of the process and questions you might also have: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process
