I submitted a k1 application on the 28th of September 2017. I received my NOA1 on the 6th of October and currently waiting for NOA2.

When I submitted it, I asked if I should submit an affidavit of support along with my application and the lady from the congressmen’s representative office told me no I don’t need it. At the time I really didn’t think much of it because I was thinking my fiancé could do a self sponsorship. Now, reading about it online it seems like it was an important part I missed or left out and there doesn’t seem to be an option for my fiancé to do a self sponsorship. I’m worried that my application will encounter delays because of it.

What part of the k1 process do they ask to submit an I 134 and is it possible for my fiancé to do a self sponsorship if his bank statements shows that he has more than enough in his account to cover the 90 visa?

If he could do a self sponsorship, will I still be required to submit a I 134 form?

Provide your fiance with your I-134, tax transcripts for the last 3 years, confirmation letter of employment (job position, permanent/part time, duration employed at the company, expected annual income for 2018). If you need to use your assets or bank accounts, include the relevant documents to show the value or balance.

And no, no self sponsorship for the foreign beneficiary.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

I self sponsored so depends, insufficient information to tell if you can as well.

I just showed my finances, no form. To be honest they seemed totally disinterested, I 134 is after all not enforceable.

What embassy/consulate are you going through? Some are more willing to allow self-sponsorship than others (London is usually pretty good, most aren't AFAIK).

The I-134 is presented at the embassy interview, not any sooner in the process.

He has 30k in his bank and for a 90 day visa it seems like it’s enough, but who knows. How were you able to sponsor yourself, if you don’t mind me asking?

My Consulate allows it, did not need anything like 30k not that I knew that at the time.

Then self sponsorship is not an option.

Yeah, I don't think self-sponsorship is going to be possible for you both with that level of assets as well as the consulate involved.

I would highly suggest looking at how the petitioner can satisfy the I-134 requirements, or finding a co sponsor (I believe they generally accept co sponsors there).

It’s fine since I luckily qualify to sponsor him, I was just worried that it would cause delays and upset that I didn’t submit it with the rest of my file, but since they don’t require it before the interview, I’ll just send it to him so he could have it by then.

How much is he paying you to petition him?

I’m pretty sure this question crosses so many lines, very unethical and not mention illegal.

This might seem like an ordinary question to you and for others it might seem offensive. It all depends on the way we were brought up and not all of us here are raised without morals.

To answer your question:

Not everything in life is about money, but I’m positive there are much easier ways of making money without going through all this trouble and wasting my time and jeopardizing my life. I’m sorry to disappoint you by telling you he’s not paying me,  but marriage and love are not a business deal.

A very bad joke. I apologize and will delete.
