Request for Evidence - police reports

My husband had his citizenship interview on February 27th and we just received a letter requesting more evidence. They are requesting police reports, and plea documents for an incident that occurred in 2011. Has anyone had a simular experience, if so what was your outcome?

i did. if your case was something that implies is a case of moral terpitude...you need all the references to what happened and court outcome. i had to get original transcript from the court, the files where destroyed, so a certified printout was gotten from the courthouse where it took place and filed with naturalization.  i did have an interview and test, but was not approved till original certified printout was filed. it was nothing that would have denied my naturalization case, but still needed to extensively explain and show certified printouts. i am a us citizen now

Is your n400 case recent? What was your court case in regards to if I may ask?

n400 was from 2015, but that doesnt matter for naturalization....all crimes must be explained. i will tell you....had nothing to do with violence or drugs, but it was liquor related (not DUI) and it all depends what your case is related to.

That's the thing, they we're all explained...3 times. In immigration court, at GC interview, and citizenship interview. They have requested documents that we have submitted multiple times. It's frustration is all.

While it can be frustrating to provide the same evidence to USCIS every few years, it sounds like you at least either have the documents or can access them so the fastest path will be to just give the CO what they want and hope that it will be enough.  It's also worth remembering the naturalization process triggers a completely new look at your husband's history, so if the 2011 offense was of a serious enough nature the CO likely just wants to cover all bases and make sure it is as described before granting citizenship.

@NebrAlliance remember that naturalization is not a right...its a privilege, so they want to know that you really deserve it.

And not only that, it's the CO job to ensure all 't's' are crossed and 'i's' dotted with cases like this.  Best not be frustrated by things like this....best to look on the bright side and know that the CO is doing their job in keeping America safe.
