ethnic clothing at oath ceremony, yes or no?

This probably sounds a bit ridiculous.

 

Haven't received my oath ceremony letter yet but thinking if it is a good idea to wear traditional Chinese clothing at the oath ceremony?

 

I plan to either wear Cheongsam or Hanfu shown in these two pix.  Did anybody attend their oath ceremony with his/her traditional clothes? (Kimono or Sari perhaps?)

Since I'm Canadian, I don't have any "ethnic clothing" to wear. But I totally would if I did! Go for it!

As long as it is appropriate and respectful, then you should do whatever floats your boat.  I don't think I've seen a photo of an oath ceremony with someone decked out in traditional clothes, maybe except some Somalis.  If you are ok with standing out amongst the business casual crowd, then go for it.

I personally wouldn't do it as I think it'll just stick out like a sore thumb. But it's by no means wrong or prohibited. If you you don't mind the little bit of extra attention and want to do it, have at it.

 

I'd still love to see somebody with a hanfu/kimono/sari/etc. there. Those are amazing.

Go for it. It’s your day and the picture will have meaning to you when you look at it later in life. Do what makes you happy. Life liberty and pursuit of happiness is what defines this great nation.
