Oh my gosh my visa just got delivered and I accidentally cut into the k1 packet whilst opening the parcel bag it was in!!!!

My documents just came in a large white envelope (not the yellow packet as assumed) and I've cut about 2.5 inches into the side of it!!!!!! It says on the front to not open the envelope I am panicking so much !

Who can I contact to confirm what to do regarding this

Call/email your embassy (attach pictures if e-mail). You might need to send it back so they can reseal it.

It's London so they don't accept calls. I have directly emailed them photos and a description and also sent a query via their online contact form.

i really really hope this doesn't change anything as I was intending to fly out to be with my fiancé finally on 15th April

Worst case scenario is that they will just ask you to bring it back for re-sealing.

Thank you for the reassurance.

If they need me to go to the embassy that's no problem I'm only a couple

of hours away via train. I just want it sorted soon. I hope they contact me back, the form says 5 working days.

That's too bad. But yeah, no matter what you have your visa issued! Just the re-sealing is the problem. I reckon you got too excited? ^_^

You are not the first and you will not be the last to rip/cut/open the sealed package. It happens.

Hope it is a quick turnaround for you.

update - embassy emailed me requesting photos so they can 'assess the damage' to the packet. Advised it would be a 3-4 w/day timespan before I get a response.

at least it's getting looked at 😊

It doesn’t look good but it doesn’t look very bad either. Although I would still take it to the embassy to get it resealed. My tape was off the envelope and she was like this has been opened and I said no that’s how I got it from the embassy. And she just let go but if I were you I’d rather be safe than sorry.
