New Processing Times System on USCIS Website

So, is this new system accurate for the family-based I-485?

https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/#mainContent

If I understood it correctly, for my office, it could take up to 23.5 months to be approved!! That would mean that I have to wait until April 2019 (!!) to even make a case inquiry!

I hope I'm wrong. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

I just looked it up for Phoenix, AZ and it says from 14 Months to 23.5 Months. I think you're not wrong.

Just one data point here, but for our office, Cleveland, the site is quoting 4.5 to 12 months processing time for the I-485. My wife's case took 3 months, so just about right about the lower end of that range.

There have been several posts on here about the newly revamped USCIS website specifically the processing times page. I took a peek at my local field office's timeline and picked random forms to look at the processing times and I personally think the page is not very accurate. USCIS is probably trying to cover their bottom and all bases to make sure people don't hound them because their cases haven't been adjudicated sooner. Even before they revamped the page, truly, the immigration process has always been a waiting game and we all have to have the kinda patience that we never even knew existed :clock: Not forgetting every case is different and it depends on the paperwork submitted along with the adjudicator that is assigned to your case.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

Yeah, I’m in Phoenix too, and almost choked when I saw the update.  I’ve been expecting to hear something this month, but now I guess I should just expect to renew my EAD instead!

As with all things, there will be cases that fall either sides of the estimates. Some will be processed faster than given timeframe and some will be outside of the maximum time indicated. Not all cases are created equal and there are many factors that go into the AOS process. I was personally frustrated that my EAD approval seemed to be taking longer than other people who filed around the same time as I did, then all of a sudden I got approval for my EAD and the following day I received an interview date. All you can really do is just hang in there and try not to drive yourself nuts during the waiting.

We were super diligent in double and triple checking everything before we filed. We made sure we had the current fees, we made sure we used all the latest editions of the forms and we made sure we provided all the information needed and labeled it in a clear manner (we separated each form and the supplemental information into an envelope and wrote on the front of the envelope a full contents list always including names and A# on each envelope at the top). Make sure you check your medical (if you submit one) to make sure it is filled out correctly (you can ask the Dr who does your medical for your own copy of the paperwork).

We self filed and got no RFE's or issues during the process. Preparing the AOS package carefully and thoroughly can greatly help in your case being processed in a timely manner.

Oh, yeah. We did file it in April 2017! My EAD was just approved and mailed to me this March!

And we did like you, triple checked everything. No RFEs asked until now.

My EAD was just approved and mailed to me this March!

Yeah, I am in San Fernando Valley, CA. Estimate range is 10.5 to 25.5 months from date USCIS received the case. Meaning, 50% will be approved within the 10.5 months and 93% will be approved by the 25.5 months.

Our case was mailed on 5/31/2017 and was received on 6/14/2017. We are in the 9.5-month range. We will wait and see.

Been trying to schedule INFO PASS appointment but keep getting "none available for next 14 days, try again tomorrow"

What gets me is many I-485 cases were approved in less than 6 months and received their green card in Los Angeles area with later dates than ours.

I just want to make sure that I understand the instructions correctly. Is filling for EAD/AP renewal free if adjusting status?

Hey Mmagic,

I am also from LA and filed my I485 on end of July. Have you contacted the congressman? Have you tried other options? Please let me know. I am also frustrated ...
Thanks
