Just wanted to update everyone on our current process to give everyone looking into the process a bit of hope . As some of you may know australia is a Non- Dcf country. I am an american citizen and have lived here for the last 2.5 years . My husband is  Australian and due to some recent financial struggles in australia and better opportunities in the US , we decided it would be best for us to make the move. I was offered an amazing job position in NC starting June and so felt we would fall under exceptional circumstances. We emailed the Sydney embassy as per the website directed and gave them copies of all required documents with our story as to why we needed to leave so soon. They soon advised us ( after I followed up with them a few days later since I hadn't heard back) that my request was with the Bangkok office as it was the closest  DCF office. We emailed them March 8th with our request and got a response on the 16th of March with a letter saying we were approved to file via the Sydney embassy. We have been given an appointment for May 22nd to turn in the petition and supporting paperwork .  Then we must wait to hear back for an interview :) its not "as fast" as alot of cases on here but i just wanted to show our case so some of you have a rough idea on how it'll go

Great outcome for you.. it proves the point that you dont lose anything by asking!!!

It also goes to prove that it is possible to get approved for exceptional circumstances in a non DCF country with only a job offer. Even though it is explicitly listed as a reason for exceptional circumstances, many people on here will tell you it's not possible, and that if it were, everyone would do it.
