First steps when coming to the US

My fiance was supposed to come to America yesterday on his K1 visa, but due to the snow storm, his flight is delayed until Sunday. Our wedding is April 8th. I want to be proactive about everything and make sure I have everything correct for the next steps.

Arrival is Sunday--he presents his brown envelope, K1 visa, and documents. I believe he also receives a document from them, if I am not mistaken.

Late next week or earlier the following week, we can go to the Social Security office to apply for his number (he's the guy so no name change)

The bank said I can add him on to my account after his arrival with just his passport and we can deposit his money

Wedding April 8th woohoo!

Wait for the signed marriage license to arrive

Immediately apply for AOS including Green card, EAD, and Advance Parole documents

Then just wait.

There is nothing else I need to do correct? Anything else I am missing or could be proactive about now?

Thanks!! :)

You used to receive the I-94 form before now it is electronic, so once he arrives you can go print it online for the SSN. Everything else looks good though but you forgot one thing. The one thing you forgot is to HAVE FUN:P

So he will receive his I-94 electronically and not at the airport? Does he receive it by email or by going to a website?

Oh yes, I should add HAVE FUN! To the list!! :) Excellent recommendation!

He has to go the actual website for that because he will not receive it at the airport. They used to do that but stopped a couple years back.

Woohoo! We made it in! Now, the real fun begins right? Haha so we picked up our license and will marry next weekend. We want to file AOS immediately after.

The officer at the airport said we need to go to USCIS in person to file. It was my understanding that everything can be filed online. Also, how do we know which city to ship it to?

The office that you ship the packet to is dependent on where in the USA you live. If you go to the uscis.gov website and search I-485 it will tell you in the section “Where To File”. Congratulations and again as others have said HAVE FUN!!!

Thank you so much for your quick response. I'm so nervous about somehow messing this up!

So do we need to go to an office at all? Or can we file online? The officer seemed to indicate we need to google a uscis officer near us to apply.

I-485 is not able to be filed online, but you would put together all the paperwork and send it to one of the lock boxes. Again if you go to the uscis.giv website you will click on Where To File and then there is a hyperlink to click and then find the address for filing a I-485 based on an approved K-1 visa

Oh sorry, I didn't mean actually online. I meant I can print of the forms and mail them in (Like i did with the I-129F) and mail them myself. I don't actually need to see anyone at the office like the officer suggested correct?

I can't thank you enough for the advice!! :)
