You do not ever receive a letter from the NVC. it’s not like the NOA 1 and 2 from USCIS during the first step. You contact them by phone to get case number etc. firms are completed online and documentation sent by upload email or post, depending on your case number. You should get email updates if they gave your email. RFE notices come email usually or post if they don’t have your email on file 

Really? I did not know this, my lawyer did not warn us about it, she said that a letter would arrive in 1 month, but nothing arrived, and there goes two months !!
