hello guys, im hoping i can get some advice on this. i'm feeling a bit worried.

so my husband and i married last year and this year i of course have to do my taxes as married. thing is to apply for his ITIN they're all telling me they need his physical passport. okay, i get it, but i also read that i can have a certified copy and notarized. he did that and sent it to me from korea and the tax lady still told me it won't work because she has to be the one to natarize it. anyway, she also told me i can wait until next year to do them when he's hopefully here or to get an ITIN number by tax time next year.

the thing is, i'm at the NVC stage. they want my tax information. i also plan to use my mother as a sponsor, would just showing her tax returns to the NVC be sufficient? i plan on making a copy of my W2 and perhaps a letter of why i didn't do it this year. would this be a possible thing? if we do the real passport route i still will have to wait several (close to 8) weeks to receive that ITIN number. please help me out.

Another option is to go in person at the IRS office and file the return and W-7 with them. You can bring the original passport which will be given back to your husband right away.
