Hi,

Do you know or assume why they assigned the Oath ceremony for May 06?

Thanks

Hi all, I had my interview today.

It was scheduled for 9.45am but I got called at about 10.45. The officer was very nice and there was no stress at all. There were 10 questions for the civics test but I only had to answer 6. The questions were:

- how many senators are there

- why are there more representatives from some states than from others

- for how many years do we elect a senator

- when do we celebrate Independence day

There were other questions which I don't remember but after I answered 6 correctly it was done.

After that I had to read and write one sentence, and she went through all my application questions. This whole thing felt like a formality as it was already assumed that I am getting approved.

She said there was an oath at 1.30pm same day and asked if I had time to do it and I said YES. Other people waiting with me were also getting same day oath.

At 1.30 I came back for the ceremony and got my Certificate. Woo hoo! Very happy

The whole experience was nice and easy, there is absolutely nothing to worry about.

Good luck to everyone!

How did the interview go ? Share your experience ?

Well. I was waiting around hour for my interview.  Officer was very professional what I liked very much. I pass tests and we went thru all applications qestions. After everything he give me paper decision can't be made yet because he need to wait for some clearance.  So I guess I just need to wait  :) but all process was very nice. 👍

@Sara L How did it go ?

It went well. Like other people were saying, officers were courteous and professional. I waited about an hour as well. I started with all formal civic test, and writing test which was "California has most people." Reading test was "what is the capital city of the United State?" After that, he went over my application, basically re-asking what I wrote. I asked for some clarification, and he was very patient with me. No tricky questions. After the interview, he asked me to stay for the oath letter, my interview started at 0315, so no option for same day. As I was waiting in lobby, it looked like everyone who did the interview asked to come back for the oath ceremomy on this Friday morning. I got the same thing as well. I was going to do my Oath end of May, because I have to travel out side US on 5/7. However, the lady who handed out the letter convinced me to do it on Friday, she said I could get my passport within a few days in Seattle passport office. I was like okay, i will go for it.😆

I wish everyone a good luck. It was a long process, but I am very grateful that I am here. Thank you everyone!

Oh one more thing, I prepared hard copies of the documents I submitted through online,(including non-traffic citation that I got long time ago) my husband's info, and tax returns. He did not ask to see any of the docs, just asked for my green card and passport.

Congratulations, do you mind to share what is your time frame? When did you apply the application? So I can estimate how long still I have to wait. Thank you so much

Congratulations to all those who were interviewed and passed...So i understand that the oath is totally related to the time of the interview, if your interview is early then you are good to go same day and if not, you will get it couple of weeks later. However, my question is related to the approvals, I noticed that some are getting approved on the spot, while others are requested to leave since a decision cannot be made on the spot. Does anyone know the difference as to why this happens? is it related to the officer that handles your case (Supervisor vs regular) or is there something else?

Thanks all

Mine was at 8:30 AM but I had a jr. officer who wasn't authorized to approve - so my oath wasn't until 6 weeks later.  I had the same question because I assumed morning meant same day oath, but she told me she was only a jr officer and her work had to be reviewed.

I'm guessing it's the same with the afternoon folks.  if you have a jr officer, you'll get your oath letter later after their work is reviewed and a decision is made... but if you have an officer with approval authorization, you get your approval on the spot.

Thanks for clarifying that...well that explains all the different situations and outcomes that people are getting.

I will try to stop worrying about this until my interview...if anyone have ideas on how not to freak out and lose their minds while waiting, please feel free to share :)

My husband had his combo I-751 and N-400 interview yesterday and I was shocked that he actually DID get to do a same day oath!  The appointment was at 7:15 and we were both called back around 7:30.  The officer reviewed the I-751 application and asked us a few questions about our marriage and the wedding, and then dismissed me back to the waiting room.  After some time, my husband arrived and said that he passed the interview and that the officer had told him he would have same day oath but that he'd need to wait 30 minutes or so for the letter as it takes a little longer since he needed to approve both applications.  He said it was all a bit of a blur and doesn't really remember what the questions were.

A person popped out of a side door every few minutes, called a handful of names, and passed out oath letters.  After waiting about 15 minutes, the interviewing officer came back out and explained to us that he had tried to stop the production of the 10-year green card but was unsuccessful, so my husband needed to be sure to return it to the office once it arrives.  He said that the oath letter would be ready in about 20 minutes.  That timing was pretty accurate and we received the letter and went out for a late breakfast.  I popped into work for a little while since it's nearby for me, we killed some time at the mall, and then headed back to the Tukwila office for the oath ceremony.  What a relief to finally have this over!

This is great news. I am having my i751 interview on May 2 which I will likely to ask for an N400 interview too if possible. I was advised by one of the officers to ask them. I hope I will have a pleasant experience as you.

I just filed my N-400 application online (employment based) and attached a copy of GC and marriage certificate.  My wife's application is due within a few weeks (she received the GC as my dependent with a few weeks delay).  Is there a recommended list of documents to take to the interview based on your experience?  Thank you in advance for your assistance and congrats to all who have completed this journey!
