Mine is now showing 7 days. The countdown to disappointment and more uncertainty begins... (continues?)

Mine was showing 7 months when my interview scheduled. The status never changed but I got the doc in mail and then realized the interview notification was also attached to the document section.

Did I make a mistake? When applied for a passport, I did not submit my name change from the court, as it was already changed during naturalization and my certificate have the new name. Should I also submitted my court order of name change? I listed in other names section, my old name with old family name, but did not attach my name change court order.

I think it’s only necessary if you changed your name AFTER getting the naturalization certificate. Since your certificate already has your current name on it, I don’t see it necessary to submit the court order paper. I’m in the same situation. I’m going to apply for my passport in a couple of days and I can ask the USPS person and keep you posted.

By the way, did you have to show your driver license when you went to apply for the passport? My driver license still has my old name, and I wonder if they would accept it if I also bring my court order name change.

Hi everyone.  I'm so happy to have found this community to follow up, support, and congratulated prospective citizens.

I just filled up the sheet with my case.

My case is a little different and I would appreciate any info you may have regarding moving to Washington after applying in a different state.

Here is my timeline:

  1. File/receipt date - 9/15/2020.  Filed in San Francisco, California field office
  2. Biometric reuse - 12 /15/2020
  3. I moved to Olympia, Washington on 4/2/2021.  I changed my address but for some reason it wasn't updated on my profile till June 30th 2021.  I had to call USCIS multiple times for they to open a service request on it.
  4. Interview cancelled/descheduled - 6/30/2021.  I called USCIS and they mentioned the San Francisco field office was about to schedule my interview 😨 but noticed my address hadn't been updated to Washington.
  5. I called USCIS and they mentioned I'm inline for an interview.
  6. Anyone have any experience with citizenship application after moving.  My fear is my application being pushed to the back of the line.

Generally cases are processed in the order they are recieved. It seems like it depends on where you move your case to. Some facilities are busier than others. Sometimes moving makes it faster and sometimes slower. So, the way i see it, your case is in the same queue as it was( USCIS's receipt date) but will be processed according to Seattle's pace not San Francisco's.

Sounds good. Yes, you will need to show your driver license, and they will take a copy of it. And it's no problem, you should be fine. In fact, you can not change your driver license until you change your social security first, and that do not do it until you get your passport and naturalization certificate back.

One hint, there is a section in the passport about other names you have used, so in there list the name in your driver license, then you should be fine.

I had my interview this morning and took oath. Very straightforward questions.

Congrats! I'm going in next week, mind sharing your experience overall? How long things took, when did you get the Oath in the day, etc, anything helps the rest of us anxious folks here :)! Thank you!

I entered the building at 8:30 in the morning. Waited roughly an hour to be called for the interview. The interviewer was very friendly and made me comfortable. They started with civics questions and then English reading and writing tests. I got it done really quickly. Then the interviewer asked several questions on my application, all straight forward.

I was asked to provide my driver license, all previous passports and GC.

Then the no and yes questions. After that she recommended for approval and asked me if I want to take the oath now. I did oath at the same time. The interview took about 30 mins total including oath.

I then waited about 15-20 mins in the lobby to get my citizenship certificate.

My biometric notification has been issued on 8/7 and appointment date is 9/1. Wondering if anyone tried to do an early walk-in for biometric  in Seattle center and was successful. Thanks

Just received an email notification (no text) for an interview scheduled on 9/15.

Had applied on 6/9/2020. Its in Seattle FO but sent by Spokane, so assuming its going to be a virtual one.

My estimate time had dropped down to 0 and then "Taking longer than expected" 2 days back - not that it is any relevant, but just a reference point.

Well, not even 24hrs after I joked about being a week out, when I signed in to check just now I discovered my interview has been scheduled! Hooray! :joy:

Tuesday Sep 28 @ 10:15am in Tukwila

Mine also has the Spokane Field Office address at the bottom of my letter, like @swadesi above.

Note: no email or text notification, I was just doing my daily 'I wonder if anything has changed' logging in and saw the update.

It was hit-or-miss before COVID; right now I'm fairly certain that they're not letting anyone in without a letter or prior authorization. Sorry!

I am wondering why they skipped the rest of April 2020 and May 2020  fillers and doing interview for June fillers!

It may be a luck-of-the-draw thing; if a general stack of forms were sent out to Spokane for processing and that office is working faster/has a smaller load than the Seattle office processing team, those interviews might come up first.

Dozens of other things could also affect processing times - 3yr vs 5yr, country of origin, responsiveness of any other agency involved in background checks.

But my guess would be that a load of case files were diverted to Spokane because they had availability and they just got through the work quicker.
