I did request a name change along with my N400 application.

If my application gets approved, what’s happen next? Could i get my certificate of naturalization with my new name? Or i will get my naturalization certificate with my old name and after that i have to request the change to a court?

Please help me

Thanks

Name changes need to be done by a judicial oath. Seattle office only holds a very limited number of judicial oaths per year, usually in July. Therefore, it might be better for you to legally change your name before your N400 interview. If your name change requires a court order, then use the court system to change your name. At the interview, inform the office about the name change and then your certificate will have your new name.

They closed the Seattle office till May 3?

Wow. I wonder how this will delay even further our interviews.

It will 😢 I have a trip scheduled in July. It's looking more and more likely I'll have to push it out.

Terrible! Such a bad luck for us that we are on the last lap!

I wonder if they may start virtual interviews on-line.

Another option is, they could issue the 10-year GC right?

Just thoughts. I am glad that I cancelled all my international trips for this year.

I wish they would have done it already. Just knowing how they treated us combo filers, you think they'd be willing to come back to rationalism? There is no reason they should keep our I-751 held ransom till the finish of N-400. They do it because

1) Giving you a 10-year green card exposes risks (But somehow they can't come around and issue another conditional green card. They'd rather force you to get on stamps. I've been living off the stamps/letters longer than using my green card).

2) It's in their interest to drag this journey long and painful and keep you a conditional PR as long as possible. Because you are much more vulnerable as a conditional resident.

Now if you look at what newweds have to go through, the public charge (18 pages) and the wait for I-485 in Seattle. It's a worse time than back then when we did it, and it was all done on purpose.

Wow! You are right!

I went back to check the processing time in Seattle to get your Green Card and it was up to 26 months!

It only took around 7 months back in early 2016. This is insane. Poor newweds.

I have a question for the group. I'm Combo filer (I-751/N-400). It's been 29 months and 17 months since I filed for Removal of Conditions (I-751) and Naturalization (N-400), respectively.

I have had so far 3 extension (I-551) stamps on my passport and the third one expires on June 4, 2020.

Being the office closed for so long (and we don't know even how much longer), do you think that if I don't have a stamp right after June 4 I'll be in trouble?

I am thinking about my current employer (UW).

I am not changing jobs or traveling overseas in any time soon.

You should be fine. The stamp is to prove you are still here legally when you travel internationally or start a new job, etc. I believe most big employers have access to a system where they can check your legal employment status. I didn't get my stamp for over 6 months before.

And guys! Today is my 2 year anniversary of my N-400 lol

I'm sorry to hear that lol... Painful. Now I can only laugh it off. And to the newweds, please move the F out of Seattle before you file your N400s. Excuse my language.

I-485 family-based receipt date for an inquiry is Feb 05, 2018 for Seattle... That's even worse than us N400 filers.

I-485 for Miami Florida is Jan 24 2017...

I'm just glad I did it in 2015. My I-485 took 9 months.

I am a combo filer (I-751 filed on November 2018 and N-400 on January 2020). My USCIS account does not show estimated time anymore for the
N-400. Is it the same for y'all?

Also I haven't received any note and the status of my my pending I-751 still shows "Fingerprint is collected" and the application is not yet adjudicated/bundled with the N-400, I believe it takes up to 30 days to realize that I have a pending I-751 and then having it bundled and transferred to the NBC but to me nothing yet, thoughts?

Other people also reported disappearing of estimated countdowns. My I751 never actually showed anything after fingerprints until a year later transferred to NBC.

As today, it should have popped up my case (combo filer, 28 sep 2018 for n400) . No matter what I will inquire my case the next day. I know the offices are still closed. I did everything according to their book but they did not do their job well. So yeah, I will inquire even tho COVID-19 pandemic. Also my stamp expired 15 days ago...
