Yes. Multiple trips interrupted. Missed a flight back. Family planned to visit me this Summer but it's on hold. More problems to come if it drags into this Summer.

Yes, I cancelled a trip to Argentina in June 2020. I was going to visit my baby niece and at the same time, teach a graduate class at the University of Buenos Aires but I am scared to death to leave and not be able to come back. :(

People who applied in 2018 might have to expect the longest wait times due to reduced processing speed and continued high volume come in.

You can see that Seattle Office processed fewer cases in 2017 and 2018 (slowest speed) than 2016. It failed to increase its processing speed while quarterly application volume remained high. It did not effectively respond to the increased demand. Its solution has not been increasing processing capacity. Rather, it has dumped more than 4500 cases to nearby USCIS offices, increasing their wait times. This is a sharp distinction in strategies used by Trump vs Obama administration. Obama was handed with more than 1.4 million pending N400 cases, and his administration reduced it down to 250,000 in two years. Meanwhile, Trump administration showed no interest of reducing the backlog at Seattle office in his first two years. Later, they decided to average it out with the help of nearby offices. Had they not dumped cases to Portland and Yakima, the backlog would have continued to grow and new applicants would expect even longer wait times.

Thanks cherry03! Yes, the hard part is over. Our completion time changed to 3 months after the interview.  I'll let you know if we hear anything.

Just checked my online account and it says they already mailed the notice for my oath ceremony. Finally, after a month and 5 days after my interview. I have not seen the letter though, will check in a couple of days.

Ten years fighting for this moment guys, it's so exciting. I submitted my application Jan, 25th and did fingerprinting yesterday. It says on the USCIS my target is 13 months. Hopfully with dumping some cases to Portland and Yakima, it can be faster. I will keep you updated. It's very good thread to see the most recent updates from everyone around.

So exciting! The letter will probably be available to be viewed online tomorrow.  I just checked the account and saw the same notification.  Maybe the ceremony will be scheduled on the same day.

Hi All,

I want to share my experience yesterday.

So I am supposed to have the interview yesterday, but what really happened was that when my number was called, the officer told me that my file wasn't there and they couldn't do the interview yesterday.

I wasn't even mad about the situation, I was mad about how they wouldn't even bother to send me a letter or email in advance? They have the whole online system to let the applicant know and they don't even use it. It's just really embarrassing that such well funded government agency wasted both my time and their time. I did look around, situations like this sometimes happens. I guess I am the unlucky one. I really thought I am really done with the whole thing, now back to waiting. sigh.

Again, hope everyone here will get their interviews soon and finally done with it.

Thanks,

Sorry that happened to you. I really hope that you can be done soon.

For combo filers, that's also my biggest fear: that they don't forward the cases from the NBC to the local Seattle office.

Once they schedule my combo interview, I will call the Customer Service and make sure that they will have both hard copies on the IO's desk before I show up.

They are really messy.

Guess what? I am not even a combo filer. I think what is blocking them is actually the background check files that were not provided by us. I also searched around, and it looks like they only request your background check when they schedule your interview, that means by the time you get the letter and they're not done with the background check, you are gonna miss it, which i don't think it happens to a lot of people
