Great news! They dropped 1 month..now it's taking (for N-400) 15.5 to 18.5 months.

The last receipt is from

July 23, 2018.

Three more months to go! (for me)

9/11/2018. During the last infopass appointment for a new stamp, I was told I would likely be scheduled for May. Fingers crossed.

May? That's scary. Did they tell you why? That would put your application outside normal processing. How are others who applied in 2019 getting their interviews while we are still waiting?

wow congrats! I am one of those that was transferred to Portland. I passed last Jan 14 but still waiting for my oath schedule. The IO said to me that WA applicants will take their oath in Seattle or Olympia. So still a waiting game for me but the hard part at least is over!

Hi @cherry03 have you heard anything about oath ceremony? Just had our interview today and were told the oath might be in Olympia.

Unfortunately I still have not heard from USCIS. My online completion status is 2 months. So i was like okay. The hard part is over anyway and was actually a fast process for me, i applied July 2019. Congrats by the way, let me know if you heard from them.

Thanks cherry03! Yes, the hard part is over. Our completion time changed to 3 months after the interview.  I'll let you know if we hear anything.

Sohopeful,

Can you share your experience and interview today? How did it go? What time was it? And why you didn't have same day oath ceremony ? Was the interview for both n400 and I-175 ? Or just n 400?   Any weird or tricky questions you had been asked ?

Thanks for sharing :)

Happy to share!

It was my husband's interview and it was scheduled at 11:45am. We arrived 30 minutes early, checked into the front desk where his picture was taken and his checked his fingerprints.  Then we sat in the 2nd floor waiting room until he was called.  They called him at about 12:05pm. He said the officer was very friendly. He first asked him to swear in and went straight to the civic questions.  He only remembered the following questions:

1. What event happened in 2001?

2. Who was the president during WW2?

3. What ocean is on the East Coast?

4. Which countries fought in WW2?

Reading test: What state has the most people?

Writing test: California has the most people.

Next, they reviewed the questions from the application and he asked to see his passport and Green card. At the end, the officer told him "congratulations you passed. " The officer said he had just missed the cut off time to be able to attend the same day oath ceremony.  I believe the cut off time for same day oath was 11:30am. He was told to expect the oath letter in about 3 to 4 wks in Olympia.

The interview was just for the n400.

Hello all,

I was K1 but got divorced. I have a GC now. I am from the Middle East.
It is about time to apply for N400.
I am not sure how easy or hard the interview and the officer questions about why did you get divorce in less than a year.

My question, do I have to hire a lawyer. Or it is ok/easy to do it by myself?
I am just worried about the interview since I was married and divorced through K1 waiver

Thanks.

Hey guys,

I am also from Washington,  specifically on the Eastside. I am following this thread. I filed for N-400 while I-751 is still pending.

Here is my info:

I-751:

Package received by USCIS on 12/31/2018.

Received my 18 months extension letter on 01/24/2019.

Received biometrics appointment letter on 4/30/2019

Case status updated to fingerprint review completed on 05/01/2019.

I have not heard anything since.

N400:

Filed online on 12/20/2019

Received NOA1 on 12/21/2019

Biometrics appointment letter on 12/28/2019

Completed a early walk-in for biometrics appointment on 01/02/2020

Case status updated to "your case is being actively reviewed" on 01/02/2020

My online estimated case completion is 13 months--02/2021

My online estimated wait time is 13 months

Questions:

How accurate is the estimated case completion time?

Will my interview likely happen in Yakima, WA(I live on the eastside)?

Does Yakima offer same day interview?

Thanks guys!!

We  filed our I751 on November 2018 and were thinking to file the N400 while the i751 is pending.  But for some reasons, we procrastinated and never got time to do it.

Also after reading about  Seattle experiences for  combo interviews, we decided  to just wait for the i751 to be approved first. We got approved on Jan 2020. We applied for the N400 after receiving the 10 years green card.

While the N400 is pending, at least we can travel with the 10 years green card since we are not dealing with extensions anymore.

I wish you knew about this Seattle backlog before applying for citizenship while your i751 is still pending. If you have a military spouse, things might go faster than others.

Oh I remember that. We thought about filing citizenship because of the fees increasing. A lot of applicants actually did. But then we decided to make a choice between paying higher fees and at least getting the green card or  paying less and getting stuck in combo interviews with repeated extensions.

The fees didn't increase after all. We paid $725.

I believe they are aware of the long delay experienced by combo filers in Seattle. They are supposed to train more officers and accredite them for processing combo applications in Seattle. Most officers are either Citizenship officers or I751 officers. They don't have accreditations to do both. And Junior officers can't even approve the N400 the same day without passing it to the qualified officer for final approval, which delay the oath ceremony for some single filers too.

Immigration proceedings require for applicants tough patience and a lot of prayers.
