I hope things have changed during COVID and you will get same day oath. Try to find some forums about Portland and ask guys in Portland about their experience.

I have asked a few people in a Portland forum already. I'm due for my interview in Portland on May 26 at 8 am. Like Seattle it's simply luck if you get a same day oath or not.

the new USCIS report is out. They received less cases in the last quarter released, Oct-Dec 2020, and processed more than the quarter before that. The backlog still growing, but at a lower rate:

interesting data.. things processed for late 2020 while plenty still pending early 2019.. cant get much from the data, other than backlog, which is expected with recent closures anyways.. was expecting much worse situations where processing times go over 2 years, but looking here seems like they are trying best to get things moving and not stall again. Same day oath is amazing

It's true. You can see how case handling is going at a faster rate. So really hope people get an interview rate. What's disappointing is that they are processing end of Feb, 2020, and people from 2019 are still waiting. I think there is a glitch with the system. Since case estimates disappeared, and this happened. The system will give them order and priority based on filing date, but since the estimates have disappeared, and things started to be random. I think they are probably impacted by this as well. I really wish when the system get's fixed, people do not go in a limbo.

Guys, we are hitting day 11 with no interviews setup for the people in row. Other than the exceptional cases who filed end of jan/ feb, no reported cases for Dec, or Jan. @seahawk24 who filed in December, was next in line, and no news yet. I think since the counter went down, it also impacted USCIS and they are calling into cases randomly now rather than filling date order. Maybe there is nothing to do, but I feel we should start reaching out to our representatives to bring awareness.

I recently got my citizenship, can someone tell me how I can get my passport? I tried scheduling online and no dates seem available (I live in Redmond)

I believe your options are:

1. Show up at Redmond without an appointment (but with filled-out paperwork) and hope for the best.

2. Look at post offices further away from Seattle metro. People have had luck in the southwest part of the state and/or towards Bellingham.

3. Keep checking for Seattle-area appointments and try to get lucky with cancellations.

@MC2 and @vsky - How did your interview go? Any details you can share? Were you offered same day oath?

@abccba - Good luck with the interview tomorrow! Please let us know how it goes.

It went great. The same officer that interviewed me performed the oath in her office, she explained that due to Covid they are not doing the group ceremony, only individual. After I was approved and oath, I waited for about 20 min and got my certificate.

Thanks for sharing! Did the officer ask you to show any documents you brought along with you?

No. While going through the application she asked if anything had changed, in my case was my job which she updated but that was it didn’t ask for any documentation. In the travels section I did have some trips which were less than 24 hours crossing the border, and since I did not list them I mentioned them, she said that they do not consider those but she appreciated that I mentioned it.
