yes, ive read about people getting a visit (some stokes) during the AOS process too but never before filing for AOS and at home too!

If you live near/or hang out near the border (including the coast as that is technically also a border) CBP can ask you for your immigration status at any time so make sure you file for AOS before you become out of status.

I used RapidVisa to do the paperwork.  they have a counselor that is supposed to call me today.... I have been very pleased with their service up to this point.

This is conjecture I think its because of 2 reasons..

 

1. You didn't file for AOS so her status expired and..

2. Iran being on high risk list.

I understand that the beneficairy's nationality does raise some questions if it was a factor, but I wouldn't be too quick to just point at that as the sole reason for the visit. I think that's reading the tea leaves a bit too much. They do not do visits for every Iranian national.

Actually, I agree.  There are probably other factors not mentioned that probably warranted the visit.  I think Iran is just the kicker, the straw, tipping point, [insert your own] that prompted the visit.  As always, who the heck knows.

For whatever reason, this is a great example of why couples should apply for AOS before the I-94 expires..............this question of AOS time limit pops up a few times a month around here.
