Probably a mixture. Some people have been waiting 7 months while others have gotten approval at 5 months already.

Lots of factors here. The person's work load who's reviewing the petition. Did they take vacation or sick time and leave the petition waiting? Are they slower than others? Did they receive a response for an RFE from another file and go back to it over the next petition? 

 

Petitions aren't reviewed in "first come first serve" generally. If you sent yours in, let's say, October 1, 2017.... and someone sent theirs in on October 15, 2017, your petition might have ended up at the bottom of the pile and theirs at the top.

When did you submit the petition? What was the NOA1 date?

we submitted the petition   17 jan 2018 and received  28th of jan

Can't give specifics but you have 2-3 months probably before NOA2. Then NVC stage and then to embassy.

 

Average seems 5-6 months for NOA2 from USCIS right now.

I'll give you the same answer I give everyone who has this question - nobody can give you a definitive answer.

 

For reference - we submitted our petition June 5, NOA1 was June 12, NOA2 didn't happen until December 1. He just had his interview in February and received his visa March 5. Of course, give or take a little. Ours happened to overlap with holidays and things slowed down a bit. But as you can see, it takes several months.

 

Do some digging and research around the forums for others with similar timelines as you or others a bit further along from your same country of origin. But bottom line is, you will need a lot of patience with this process. Hang in there!

VSC handles a few cases with extra background checks (transfers from CSC), and TSC used to but doesn't anymore...it's probably people who put TSC because the petition is sent to the Texas lockbox.
