Hello everyone!

My PD is July 31, 2017 in the TSC.

Now i know that the normal wait time to get your i-130 petition approval is 5-9 months for immediate relatives, but why do I see cases from August and even a couple from September being approved when they haven't even contacted me since August 2017 about my case??? Does anyone have any answer to calm my nerves a bit?

They won't contact you until their either approve it, send an RFE for more information, or deny it (rare). So it's not unusual for you to not have heard anything at all back yet....it's not a sign of anything wrong.

Some people who filed after you have had their petitions adjudicated already. Many haven't. It'll drive you crazy comparing your timeline to others. Your case is still considered within normal processing timelines, so there's nothing to do but wait still.

It does seem like they are working on cases right around your PD, so hopefully you hear back soon.

Hi Gregorio,

Hope this helps. My PD is 11/02/17 @ NSC. (Currently the most backlogged SC in USCIS- As per USCIS they are currently processing 05/2017 cases) I completed the petition through a travel agency whom also advised me I-I30 for immediate relatives take 5-9 months and sometimes even longer depending on the SC's backlog. I am going on almost 5 months of waiting and let me tell you it feels like its been a lifetime so i can only imagine how you are feeling. I literally check VJ every day, (multiple times a day) and i noticed they have a much more updated time line than USCIS does, under your timeline it should give you an ETA. For example on VJ it says that @ NSC they are processing late July I-130's  but i have seen a lot of recent approvals for mid August whom received NOA 2 this week and also some early June being approved this same week. My cousin petitioned her husband last year and she had your same problem. I think it just depends on where your file lands and whos working on it. Some officers may work quickly while others may work at there own pace. Its pretty much a gamble. I would say give it a week more or so and i try calling USCIS to follow up. Despite them being useless they may an update for you. When you check timelines, always check the profile and visa type. K-3's petitioned at the same time as an I-130 tend to be approved quicker which can sometimes throw you off.(at least it did for me) I just checked on the USCIS webpage  they are currently working on 06/29/17 @ TSC  basically a month away from your PD. You may be getting your NOA2 soon. I know it may not mean much, but you are not on your own. & i am certain you will soon have an approval. Sending prayers and wishing you the best of luck.

Hey Jenn,

Thanks for your response.

trust me I try keeping a positive mind, but friends and family mess up my mind with the negative “they should have already approved it” or “that’s strange its taking so long, something MUST be wrong.” I look at the VJ timeline all the time and TSC processing time just WENT BACK the other day, it was in July 2 the other day. I try keeping a positive mind but because it’s been so long and they don’t tell you much when you call because the case is within normal time, I go straight to worrying.

Thank you so much for your reply it’s helping me calm my nerves.

That's the reason i hate calling USCIS, every time I call all they can tell me is that it is pending within normal processing times and reiterate what date the SC is currently processing. (which is whats exactly on the web page, i can look that up myself). They are useless! I think its ridiculous that we have no control over the processing of these documents. They definitely need to develop a better system especially for such a costly process. I for one would prefer being told its currently being reviewed, it has been assigned to an officer, its sitting on a desk somewhere i dont know honestly anything at least except PENDING. It is way to vague. I don't think they realize how hard and worry some it is to be on the other side. Try to block away negative comments focus on the positive and that everything will turn out alright. You will have an approval in no time you'll see. I will suggest something that has worked for many people and I in fact tried it myself and received an extremely rapid DETAILED response. Reach out to your local congressman and have them check on the status of the petition for you. USCIS responds to them much quicker and will actually "look into" your specific case in depth vs. the generalized broad response you get when calling the customer service number line. I think at least then you'll have a better understanding of where your case really stands.

Don't loose faith!

Good luck and keep us posted.
