Hello all. I don't know if anyone has the same situation as myself but I figured I'd ask here. We had an RFE for criminal history . I currently live in Ohio.  I had a dui case back in 2007 which I paid my dues for. I sent my certified court copies to uscis (as they requested). However, our case has been in the same status door 3 weeks now. We've noticed others have sent their response in after us but got approved before us. I'm starting to think now... back when I was 16/17 I had traffic cases in Maryland but I never attended those court cases because I moved back home to Hawaii so I didn't care much about it. Is it possible this will come back and haunt Me? If I understand properly , you have to attend court to be convicted so do I have a technicality here? Has uscis made people get court cases from other states? Thanks in advance all.

Actually if you don't show up for one or two type cases, traffic court even, they can put a warrant out for you if they really choose to do so. You never paid the fines even??

While seems minimal, never good idea to just ignore these fines and just say oh well.

If I would have stayed in Maryland , I would have taken care of everything .  But I moved back home to Hawaii and in 2004 I moved here to Ohio .  And no, I didn't pay fines because I moved. This was like 20 years ago

And another thing is, uscis states traffic tickets are not required UNLESS it was alcohol or drug related. In my situation, I was never convicted because I never showed up for court (I couldn't, I was out of state) and they were minor traffic violations .  They also state, that if the fine was 500 or more, I needed to provide certified copies of that case. The thing is, I remember I had a speeding ticket in Maryland too. But it was so long ago ,  I don't even remember how much the fine was for.

They can increase the fines with penalties/late fees. So what might have been a $45 parking ticket could now be over that limit in the system. I can't say that is the issue with your case but I would recommend looking into it and trying to settle them. The  you don' have to worry about them anymore.

That is true but there are many scenarios that can play part in this situation . That's why I'm hoping someone with the same or similar situation could share with me. From what I understand is states have their own jurisdictions.  In my scenario ,I'd have a warrant for my arrest in Maryland ONLY. In order for me to take care of those 20 year old cases is turn myself in and attend court there. But I live in Ohio.  That's about a 4 hour drive and I don't have family there. I'm just curious how picky uscis is.
