Between the timeline tracker and monthly filing threads there are probably at most a dozen Detroit filers here over the past year.  I just registered to add my name to some trackers so that other can see what's going on, since I've been using this board a lot lately.

Would be nice to hear from @Biliebulezine about their recent interview, or from @lynchje2 and @arya when they have it soon.

Mine is on Apr 18th.

I'll go add my info into October thread.

We had the interview yesterday in Detroit and he passed!  I should have clarified this was for my husband, he's from India.  He studied the civics questions all the way there since we had a 2.5 hour drive.  We got there on time for the 11:20 appt, went thru the security and sat to wait. Everyone was really nice.  After waiting for a long time past our scheduled appointment a man came out and said their entire system just went down and they are unsure when it will be back up so they may have to reschedule some people.  Groans all around.  We both agreed to wait as long as necessary...with two hungry and cranky kiddos.  At about 1pm he was finally called back.  What a relief!  She did ask him the capital of Michigan and the chief justice of supreme court questions.  He can't remember all of them because he said it was so fast.  They did not schedule his oath ceremony and said we'd receive a letter in the mail.  The USCIS system sent us updates to his account yesterday and this morning, but they only say he attended the interview and another says he passed and the letter will be sent for oath ceremony. His officer said his oath may be in Grand Rapids, which would be much closer for us to travel to.  Good luck everyone and thank you for all your help on this site!

Hmm, I thought they had an oath ceremony at the USCIS Office (not necessarily the same day).  I remember being there with Katya once for one of her three biometrics appointments and they were conducting an oath ceremony in the auditorium just to the left of the welcome desk.  I also remember seeing oath ceremonies at a Tiger game.  I guess the location can vary.

I guess that answers my question on the judicial vs administrative oath.  Administrative ones are then done at the USCIS office, while the judicial ones go to the district court.  Yeah, they do some special ones at public events on occasion.

Are you able to choose a location?  The reason I ask is that I hear of folks on the West side having their oath over there (Grand Rapids), and I imagine anyone from the UP or Northern Lower Michigan might have something more local than Detroit.  I don't want to get ahead of ourselves, but it would be nice once Katya is approved to have her oath in Bay City where there is a Federal District Court.

Got another update today:

Your oath ceremony was scheduled. So just now waiting for the notice in the mail. I don’t think you can chose location, because they already sent out the date/location of the oath ceremony already.

Congrats! Please share the location/date once you have it.  Did you by any chance request a name change/judicial oath?

I had my interview today.  It was at 8am, but I arrived around 7:30.  There were already whole lot of people getting in the building.  Going through the check in was a breeze, everyone was very friendly.  The agent called around 8:10 with about 10 people going in before me.  The agent that interviewed me was so friendly and very nice.  There was another agent in the room, but she just observed.  She went over some personal info, put me under oath, and then we did the test first.  I read the sentence "Who elects congress?", then I wrote "People elect congress".  My civics test was 6 questions:  Who wrote the declaration of independence, who is in charge of the military, name 3 original states, name one state that borders Mexico, which party is president's party, and which two parties are there in the USA.  Very easy.  Then she asked me all the questions for my eligibility that I answered on my application.  She goes through all of them, so know your answers.  I found out that if you're a member of a union at work, you declare it on that question about if you're a member of any organizations, groups....  Then I showed her my parking ticket I had 4 years ago that I forgot to declare on the application and she said it's no biggie, she did take copy of the receipt.  That was it.  She said I passed and I will be getting the letter about my oath ceremony in the mail, and the ceremony should be within 45 days.  My status changed immediately on my uscis app, saying my oath will be scheduled soon.

Good luck everyone, I'm so glad this is almost over! :)
