I doubt it will matter. My fiancé bought a round trip ticket for his POE in May because the difference was $100s. I figure if for some reason they ask about it upon entry, he can give them the honest answer - it was stupid expensive for a one way. :)

Håll ut, y'all.

Wow!  we got lucky - You should be sure to cancel the return ticket if you buy round trip

It's more of getting unlucky if it does happen rather than lucky if it doesn't. haha Half-full vs half-empty, I guess!

I believe those referenced cases got the issue sorted out eventually, but it does just add one more level of waiting and stress to go through it.

it happened to me as well - round trip ticket, forgot to cancel, and all of the sudden we learnt that according to my I-94  I "left" the US.

Delta airlines representative told us that sometimes they provide a manifest with passengers 1-3 days BEFORE the actual boarding. And it's never corrected despite the fact some passengers have never even checked-in.

It took us 2 hours (one way drive) to get to the airport with CBP Office to fix my I-94 to avoid any possible troubles with my AOS.

Very often flights from Europe to the US are chipper if it's a round trip. So, OP, go for that if this is the case. Just don't forget to cancel the return flight. And check your I-94 after that to make sure you "didn't leave" :)

Good luck!!

Just REMEMBER to keep proof of your cancelled return ticket once you get around to cancelling it. To avoid any issues.

When it comes to entering the USA on a K1 visa, does it matter if you enter on a one way ticket or a return ticket? Obviously I wouldn’t be returning to my country but the price of a return ticket is half the price of a single ticket (go figure).

What country are you from? We had got a round trip ticket because as you say it was cheaper. Security at the European airport stopped him to ask why is he on a Round trip for a K1 Visa. Another reason is where in the world you are coming from.

Huh?

I was 10 years in an airline as a senior manager.  This false reporting of a passenger on a manifest rarely if ever happens.

I don't know if it would have changed if I hadn't been on my flight, but during my last visit (December/Jan) I was looking at my i94 online - it showed me as having left the country a full week before my flight departed.    I wonder if the digitsation of everything now is causing some of the issues?
