Hello everyone I have question related to N-400 citizenship application for my wife as we're approaching the timeline but we have few concerns before apply I hope input/advise from other people will help us as we're nervous.

My wife became permanent resident in Feb 2010 through her father who is US citizen she was out of US as per below please advise us that if she will face any problems during application. She is not out of US more than 6 months within last 5 year but she was out of US for more than a year in-between 2010 and 2012 but that time she took the permission from USCIS and they gave her a documents looks like passport and she returned that to office when she came back to US and have no records now. Below is timeline I hope that will help.

1st Entry to US: Feb 2010 and exit June 2010 (Took permission from USCIS and came back in April, 2012 no issue with entry and officer took the permission document from her)

2nd Entered in April 2012 and left in May 2012 after one month but came back within one year on first day of April 2013 so she was out for almost 10 months.

Since April 2013 she is living continuously in US and working regular trip outside like month or so every year now we reached our 5 year timeline but nervous that may have some problem.

Please advise us with your experience if we will have any problem or not since she never been out of US more than one year without permission that may decrease our nervousness.

Thank you everyone in advance.

Thank you everyone in advance.

Try completing an N-400 application online - creating an account is free and (at least in my opinion) a far better option for submitting the citizenship application - you can monitor the status of your case online and if you ever get a Request for Evidence (RFE) lettter, you can easily upload the documents they requested on your account - no stamps needed!

Also, you don't have to submit the application right away - you can keep the application active until you are ready to submit and pay.

While you are completing the form, sections will open if USCIS needs more information - otherwise, it will allow you to continue to the next section if your answers satisfy the required responses.

In the section where she will be asked if she traveled outside the US within the last 5 years - your response should be No.  If memory serves, you won't even be asked about previous travel after that.  Any travel outside the US before March 2013 (in your case) would not have to be included.

I submitted my application February 2018 - the last time I was outside the country was November 2012 - I didn't have to list that (granted I was only out for 6 days, but still, it was travel outside the US).

When you make it to the interview, she can bring that documentation with her in case she is asked, if that makes you feel better.

You will find filing based on 5 years residency does not require a lot of documentation.

Hope this helps.
