Hi Guys,

So I came here on a k-1, got married and received my greencard. It's coming up to the time I need to start to file for a new one with the conditions removed.

I've made an account on USCIS and I'm trying to do the verification section to I can begin my application.

The problem is, my A number seems to work but my DOS Case ID is not working.. It also seems to be 2 characters to long. So as an example, it's structured like this LND2023553013K4

This is the only case number I can find and it wwas on my approved petition for alien fiance form they mailed me. I never received a summary with all my details on. I just received my greencard in the mail along with a welcome to the US leaflet.

From what I am understanding, you are saying you need to apply for ROC? You apply for ROC by mail, not online.
Once you receive your extension letter than you can track your case online.

You can download the form here: https://www.uscis.gov/i-751

The USCIS and DOS are two different agencies of the US government. You have to use a USCIS number on the USCIS website. For example when the K1 petition was filed, your receipt (NOA1) had a case number. Same for AOS/EAD/AP (3 case numbers).

Agree with above answer. I couldn't figure out what you were trying to do. Kudos to @sweetswinks

To reapply for your green card online, you must first verify your identity with the following..

I’ve been here almost 2 years, my green card is about to expire and I was told to renew it no more than 3-6 months before it expires.

the Instructions for renewal say you need to complete verification before renewing.

How long until it expires? You need to send a pretty detailed petition proving a bona fide marriage to USCIS, it's not a straight-forward renewal like with a driver's license. The window for filing this is 90 days prior to expiration, no earlier. If you don't file the I-751 in time (i.e. when your green card expires), then you become subject to removal proceedings.

If you can't get enough information together in time, file the necessary paperwork (I-751, fee, whatever else you can scrape together) and wait for an RFE for anything else they might want. It's better to send in a skeleton petition than no petition when it comes to this.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

Yeah, it’s a bit confusing because some people use the word “renew” in reference to getting your 10 year green card by removing conditions. But it’s not a renewal; in many ways it’s a whole new application. There’s a wealth of information about filing I-751on VisaJourney, though, so download the form, get started and let us know if you have questions. Good luck!

If you arrived on a k1 visa and received a conditional 2 year green card then you are not applying for a renewal. You are applying for removal of conditions which is different and once approved you will then receive a 10-year unconditional green card. You must apply for this (i-751) via mail and send evidence of a continuous bonafide marriage. You can apply only within 90days prior to your current green card expiration.

That is not removing the conditions placed on your first (marriage based) greencard. That would be for somebody who had a 10 year greencard that was about to expire. That's more like renewing a passport.

You need to prove you are  still married to your K1 petitioner and co-mingle your lives and finances. It's a harder packet to put together.
