Don’t speed. No fine.

That was my first post in the thread.  No one is being forced to speed. It is a universal fine, black, white, male, female, any religion, ethnicity, etc pays the same. That’s fair and non discriminatory.

All being equal, sure. The world sure ain't equal though  Some people are wealthy because they had wealthy parents. Why punish the poor, for being poor? Isn't the law supposed to be applied equally, so why are the rich being given a free pass to do what they want?

They aren’t. They can afford the consequences. Not a free pass at all.

I’m all about personal responsibility. I don’t blame anyone else for my problems, financial or otherwise.

Where's the blame? If you can afford to pay more for your crime, you should.

so because courts are overburdened we can't improve? poor people go to prison for inability to pay in some areas, is this not burdensome the court system? obviously tax payers pay more money to jail someone than the actual fine..

I’m willing to bet the jails aren’t full of people who didn’t pay a traffic violation. The usual consequence is losing ones license and not being able to register a vehicle.

You should pay more for gas if you can afford it. And electricity. And everything else you buy. Fair is fair.

Nobody sure, but I don't quite understand why you have a such a black and white view of the world? Take people with ADHD, who are much more likely to speed, according to statistics, so why, given a natural tendency to speed, would a rich person with ADHD potentially receive a much smaller fine, in purportion their income, than someone with a lot less wealth, but equally or more prone to speeding?

Then they shouldn’t be driving if they aren’t capable of doing it safely and according to the law. Just like guns.

The rich have personal responsibility too. No one ever said the behavior showed good character.

good character has nothing to do with fined amounts for speeding.
