hey everyone :)

I had my medical at knightsbridge last friday (March 16th) and I just wanted to tell you about my experience:)

I arrived 20 mins early at 1.10pm and they wouldn't allow me to officially 'check-in' until my actual appointment time at 1.30pm. The girls at the reception were sooo lovely and they just asked for all of my documents and then I had to fill out another medical questionnaire and do a urine sample, I handed both of these back into reception at 1.55pm. I waited until about 2.15pm and then I got called in for chest X-ray, this was very simple and took about 10 mins. I waited another 20 mins and then was called in to see the doctor - he asked me a couple of questions then tested my eyesight, checked my blood pressure, ears, temperature, throat and finally he took my blood. I was so nervous about getting my blood taken but the Doctor was so understanding and made it really easy for me. Some people said that their doctor checked their weight, height and reflexes also but for some reason, I didn't get this. I went back out to the waiting room for another 5/10 mins then the nurse called me in to go over my vaccinations. I was up to date with all of my Vacs so the nurse checked everything off, the only problem was - I got my last Tdap Jab in January 2009 which means it's still currently within the last 10 years so she was able to check it off for AOS however, if I get my AOS interview after January 2019 then my Tdap won't be valid within the 10years anymore. I asked the nurse to just give me a Tdap booster when I was at knightsbridge but she wouldn't give it to me coz I am still currently within the 10 years :( so I'm probably gonna have to pay a fortune for it in the states :(  Did anyone else have this problem too?? Anyways, other than that everything was great and I left knightsbridge at 3.20pm so I was in there for just over 2 hours! My interview is in 2.5 weeks so hopefully there are no issues with my medical results and they'll just get sent straight to the embassy :)

The handbook for USCIS adjudicators states if you were as complete as medically possible on the date of your medical exam, then you are complete for immigration purposes. Your vacs were complete for immigration last Friday. Another example would be a pregnant woman would not be able to get MMR because of the Rubella component.  That shot would be waived as not medically appropriate on the date of her medical. She should be accepted for immigration as complete, albeit with waiver. The USCIS adjudicator is not supposed to send her back to another medical just because she gives birth and is no longer pregnant by the time her interview rolls around.

What actually happens with AOS is a bit more of a toss-up. There are adjudicators who haven't really absorbed their "guidebook" and the concept of if you are "complete" at the medical exam, then the length of time you wait in a queue for AOS does not negate your evidence of being complete for AOS as signed off by a doctor.

Another thing that can happen to some. Let's say you left one shot off and went to your GP for it after the medical at Knightsbridge. You do not have a signed off immunization form for AOS. The only way to get signed off once you leave Knightsbridge is by a designated Civil Surgeon in the US. Going to a Civil Surgeon in the US means a new medical date that supersedes anything from Knightsbridge. So if, on that new date, your Tdap 10 yrs had expired or you were no longer pregnant, you would have to get in compliance for that new date. Many Civil Surgeons will not sign off on shots without doing a full medical exam to the tune of hundreds of dollars.

Further causing problems is the fact Knightsbridge refuses to mark the results box for K1s as 'complete'. They have instructions saying  to only do that for Immigrant visas and leave blank for nonimmigrants.  The best they will do is write a note to that effect on page 2 of the immunisation form.

You are complete for AOS according to instructions. I hope it works out for you that you get a knowledgeable adjudicator who knows the rules.

If you interview for AOS, you need to be informed on the process and willing to argue or discuss the points.

"Your shots results are not marked complete. This section is blank"

"Sir, my clinic refuses to mark that box for a K1 Nonimmigrant, but you can see they made a note on page 2 that I was complete for AOS. And you can look at the actual shots documented and see they are all there."
