Hello,

I got my K1 visa and I am currently preparing everything to arrive in the US (I will be in California).
My visa is expiring in August (so I still have 5 months for leaving France).

I have a concern concerning the adjustment of status. I will marry my fiancee quickly but then, to receive the marriage license, it can be up to 6 weeks.
I want to avoid any stress about papers not arriving in time because of those 6 weeks.

Is there anything to shorten the process ?
Is that possible to fill the adjustment of status' papers in advance to make it easier, faster and stress-less ?

Lol no. You can't file aos in advance. You can only file it after you get married and you need to include your marriage certificate in there.

If you want stress free, or at least less stress, you should have done cr1. But also maybe don't immigrate at all since nothing about this process is fast easy or stress free. ;)

Also you probably have some wrong info about marriage license. We got ours 2 days after the wedding.

There's no way to shorten the process. You'll be dealing with bureaucracy and going through the process like everyone else. You can't file AOS in advance because you'll need your marriage certificate. However, if you have free time before you move to the US, you can always start preparing the soft copies of a variety of supporting documents that you're thinking about putting into your AOS paperwork. I did just that and it made things a lot easier and stress free for me. By the time I got to the US, I could focus on getting set up and settle down i.e. applying for SSN and bank account, getting beneficiary election forms ready, adding my name to our bills, getting signed up for mobile plan, looking up doctors that are in my husband's health insurance network for additional vaccination, researching civil surgeon cost and many other stuff.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.
