The data analytics firm that worked on the Donald Trump election campaign was offered material from Israeli hackers who had accessed the private emails of two politicians who are now heads of state, witnesses have told the Guardian.

Multiple sources have described how senior directors of Cambridge Analytica – including its chief executive, Alexander Nix – gave staff instructions to handle material provided by computer hackers in election campaigns in Nigeria and St Kitts and Nevis.

They claim there were two episodes in 2015 that alarmed members of staff and led them to refuse to handle the data, which they assumed would have been obtained illegally.

SCL Elections, Cambridge Analytica’s parent company, denied taking possession of or using hacked or stolen personal information from such individuals for any purpose in either campaign.

The revelations are the latest to focus attention on Cambridge Analytica, whose activities are being investigated in the US by the special counsel Robert Mueller as part of his inquiry into possible Russian collusion in the 2016 US presidential election.

That was 2009.  In 2009, we would have jailed someone who broke security protocols and used an unclassified means of sending classified information.  Things have moved on.

but is he really, really sorry? He will need to get a suit for court. He's confirmed FB did not rigorously apply vetting or enforce agreements with apps and had access to huge amounts of personal data. Anyone using FB is the service.

Does it really matter though?  Don’t see how this is any different than what Google and Amazon and others do.  I bet Google knows more about me than FB, actually.

No doubt.  Went to the blind store a few weeks ago with the wife, and now every time I use Google, I keep getting ads for Hunter Douglas.  Of course I ignore them, but it is annoying.  Maybe I should start using Bing or Dogpile.

IKR?  Recently bought a new lower for an AR-15, and now I see ads for gun parts all the time.  As if I don’t know how ot search myself.  Sheesh!

Remember when they were saying, during the campaign, that Donald Trump is giving great speeches and drawing big crowds, but he is spending much less money and not using social media as well as Crooked Hillary’s large and highly sophisticated staff. Well, not saying that anymore!

She did win the popular vote in the DSR of CA, so maybe there is some truth to that.  The other question to ask is was Hillary following the same playbook with a different data mining firm?
