OP-  You have made this confusing...you initially said " haven't been told why no letter or docs returned yet ".  Now you say he DID receive a document from the CO.......

That is completely different....

Bottom Line after almost 2 full pages of posts:  The visa was not denied.  It was simply "refused" pending additional documentation.......

Ok he was refused at interview pending more proof of relationship and you sent it and what happened after? Your posts are very confusing because if that’s the case then it’s not a denial yet. Unless you’ve heard back and they said they are sending the papers back with the denial reason. If you were asked for more proof of relationship and you sent more then you hear back about your documents being sent back to you without approval then you know the reason why. It’s because they don’t believe your relationship is bonafide. If that’s the case your best bet is to go get married and file for CR1 ASAP. It will take a year or so. Probably longer for you because of the denial based on relationship proof. And let me tell from what I’ve heard many people on this forum talking that if you were denied because of not enough relationship proof you are going to need a lot of visits during the process for your CR1 to get approved.

This is what is most confusing to me.  The CO gave him a paper requesting more documents he sent the pic to me and I sent additional pics and info to prove our relationship.  The case was NEVER denied at the interview, only more info was requested.  I suppose we may be jumping the gun and need to see why it was refused and perhaps i didn't send in enough proof? Because we thought we were waiting for call to pick up passport with visa...

Ok gotcha. Yes I forgot you said they requested something else. So the additional evidence requested was for proof of the relationship? Is that all they requested? I think we were assuming, or at least I was, that bc you made another post about the police certificate, that the denial had something to do with that. Still sounds like you were in AP for the requested documents and it changed to refused after the documents were received. Not sure but still sounds like a denial but maybe  you can give it a few days or weeks to see if the status changes again.🤷🏽‍♀️ I know that’s nerve wrecking to wait it out. I still believe applying for the tourist visa would be futile as he’s already shown immigration intent. Chances of him getting that are nil to none. You need to know the reason for denial. Also, if you can, go over in detail with him the questions asked and answers he gave at the interview to see if there is something  there. If it’s proof of bonafide relationship, then yes get married and file for the CR1 and gather LOTS of proof in the meantime. If it’s something on the police report, that may be a whole different ballgame that the CR1 is not going to be a quick fix for. Good luck!!🙏🏽

If you are a K-1 in JA, and you submitted requested information from interview, went to AP, then refused, then there was a problem with his medical or police certificate.  You will need to wait to get the letter.  You can email the embassy and inquire about the refusal in ceac to make sure you have been refused and to see If you may qualify for a waiver.

So the case was NOT denied????  "Refused" does not mean it was DENIED!!    After my wife's interview, she received a 221g which asked for additional documents......THE CEAC STATUS CHANGED TO "REFUSED".........then 2 days later, it changed to "issued"...

Woow I hope so! Thanks for the glimpse of hope!

Sooo we didn't get a letter stating the refusal after the interview that was reflected on the case status online. He had a basic info sheet from interview.  NO document was given after interview to state refusal and why. Still waiting for passport and  letter from DHL that embassy said would come when I emailed about refusal.

Let me start by saying, listening to others not from your embassy will mess you up.  Althought they are being helpful, every embassy is different in their norms and processes.

first you need to email the embassy and inquire about the refusal on ceac.  You cannot respond to anything until you know.

Thanks for the clarification....I assumed refused was a polite way of stating a denial. Also I got an email response that the case is still AP from the embassy. (Still don't understand the "refused" online status update though)

After my wife's interview, she was given a 221g because the CO didn't like the divorce document she provided. It told her that she must submit a different certificate. The CEAC status changed to "Refused".  2 days after she submitted the new divorce certificate, the CEAC status changed to "Issued".....

Yes, some of the terms can be confusing.......good luck..
