Hello everyone,

I can't seem to get an answer from anyone at the Montreal consulate.

We were put on the waiting list for our interview on January 12th.

Still no interview date.

Has anyone else had his problem with a similar timeline?

I'm trying to see when I may have it scheduled as the 4 months they stated are fast approaching.

If anyone else wants to share their insight it would be much appreciated.

I'm sure other K1'ers wil chirp up and state its a long wait in Mtl!! I belive around a 4-6 month wait!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

my husband and i finally got fed up with waiting and called them (we read on here about others who called and found out they DID already have an interview scheduled, they just didn't get back to them). many of us at that time heard really late and had to make reservations and medical appointments within a couple days. i say give them a call, won't hurt to try :) we didn't actually get our interview letter until a couple weeks after they set it up. i assume they don't like to pay extra for fast delivery? haha. also, we were told interviews are scheduled around mid-month for the following month, so mid-to-end of month is a good time to call :) good luck

I don't know why it took so long for them to put me on the waiting list after they received everything in November.

All I know is the 2nd time I e-mailed them in March, I was told to stop bothering them and wait out the 4 months from January 12th. That is when I was put on the waiting list for the interview according to the e-mail they sent me.

Now that the 4 months are up, my patience is running thin when it comes to getting answers from the consulate...

Has anyone had any luck by contacting their sponsors congressional leaders to inquire on their behalf?

a good senator will do it and do it fast. another one we contacted said it would be a couple weeks to review and blah blah blah. as weird as this sounds, i say phone your senators and shop around

as for montreal, we keep being told to wait too. except we're in a different position. they keep saying they're aggravated with us for calling, but we just keep calling when they ask us to call back and check ("within a couple days" "within 7-10 days" "within 4-6 WEEKS" i think they pull numbers from their #######, personally, just to get us to not call), lol.

Ha, I don't think so. My Packet 3 arrived almost 2 whole weeks after they said they sent them!

Hi gags,

Ok.. VJ business first - the timeline that you were encouraged to fill in is not your signature, however, I like to see the signature so thank you personally for that! If you go to the main forums page, the timeline link can be found on the right hand side of the page, just above the first forum. OR , if you click on "my assistant" above, you will see the link to edit/add your timeline.

The timelines are a good place to find the answers to the questions you are asking; however, without even having to go there I would say that you are certainly outside of the normal wait time for an interview. Some have waited forever + 1 day for an appointment (Jersey and nekis come to mind) but usually it's around the 4 month mark.

Since they seem to be getting irritated by your call (seems that Montreal is easily irritated these days) then I would wait the 9 more days until the 12th May when your 4 month mark is by their records. Then, politely email AND call saying "as per" their instructions, you waited the 4 months and now would like to know the status of your file.

Whenever I called, I completely went against my obnoxious nature and said things like, "Hi, I filed for a fiancee visa a while back and I know you probably don't have an interview date set for me but if you could please help me out and do me a huge favour and let me know around when I could expect an interview I would really appreciate it." Yes, nauseating I know, but I never had any problems with anybody on the phone. I kept my emails much more brief.

Good luck to you!
