We got married about 6 weeks after I arrived in the US. We would have done it sooner, but I lost my passport after POE en route to my new home, so I had to get a new passport before we could apply for a marriage license. ^_^

We used most of the six month validity of the K1 to plan a small wedding that we planned for two weeks after her arrival with family at my brother’s house.  Since most of Katya’s family and friends could not come, we scheduled the wedding for a time when they could watch it streaming on the internet.  Katya’s best friend that came over a few years earlier was her MOH, and we had a beautiful late September wedding.  When she arrived she lived with me and we immediately got to work with the final plans, dress, final menu, helping at my brother’s house, etc.  It was a great day with perfect weather!

We got married after a month I arrived in the US. I wanted something fast but nice. It was a really small ceremony at the courthouse just with his parents. It tooked like 5 minutes and then we went to the restaurant to celebrate. Everything was pretty simple and I'm glad.... I didn't wanted anything big without my family and friends. I'm happy we did it so fast because at least we had all the time to start to prepare the AOS right away. Maybe we gonna have another ceremony with my family in Italy next year.

Hello,

I am the US petitioner, and my husband is from Mexico. His visa was approved in March 2017, but he waited until June 13, 2017 to enter the US as he was finishing up a teaching job.

Once his visa was approved, we put together a small wedding. We booked a city park for $100 and did a small dinner at a steakhouse. We had under 20 guests in attendance. Looking back, I loved our wedding!! It was beautiful and intimate. We were married on July 14, around a month after entry. We applied for residency within the week after that!! Still processing..

Before the wedding, we lived together, but I was in the process of moving and taking a class, so we didn’t see each other a ton (lots of stress, I know!)

Something that made it easier was I went dress shopping shortly after applying for the fiancé visa so I could get the dress I wanted. 🤗

The snag we ran into was we are both Catholic and were unable to finish our marriage prep process within the visa timeline, so we were married by a baptist minister. We are now planning our service to have our marriage blessed in the Catholic Church on our 1 year anniversary. Since we had a Friday civil service the first time, it translates well to a Saturday full out religious ceremony. :)
