We have sent the I-485 package and wonder what to expect next. What I have read so far is conflicting and does not seem to agree with the I-485 instructions. What is the correct story? What information is needed at the interview, or what do I need to prepare and take along.

You may want to look in the FAQ section.

That is my point. Some info in that FAQ is dated. Some in that particular item do not make sense, and some do not agree with what I have read elsewhere. Why? Is there a variance from center to center? What is real? I guess what is real will come with the AOS interview notice and I will just have to wait until then to prepare.

Well each case is different and if you have an interview, each interviewer is different. So it varies from case to case. Best bet for the interview is to take as much as possible to prove you are a 'real couple'.

Although if I had to produce documents like what they want here for my last marriage we would of got denied, in 13 years we never had a joint bank account, both of our names weren't on utility accounts and our lease was in one name only, nor were there any insurance policies with each other as beneficiaries and our cars were registered and insured separately, but we were both from the same country and living there so never had to 'prove' anything.

Just being in love and together doesn't cut it with the USCIS.
