Hey everyone,

I will be applying for a I-129 F very soon and have been doing a lot of research. My fiance is in Ukraine right now, and I was wondering if anyone had experience dealing with the US Embassy there or knows how long it will take for the paperwork to reach the US Embassy there, if everything here is approved.

- Can you guys tell me how long it took your K1 visa to be approved from start to finish?

- How long was your processing time?

- When is the earliest time my fiance in Ukraine can schedule an interview? Is it after the paperwork reaches the NVC ?

- Is there anything you did that made the process a little faster ?

Any answers are greatly appreciated ! Thank you to everyone in advance !

- Can you guys tell me how long it took your K1 visa to be approved from start to finish? This varies depending on your petition. Any RFE's, the person looking at your petition, different background checks, ect.

- How long was your processing time? This again varies, right now timeline for USCIS seems ot be about 5-7 months, then NVC stage, then to embassy. That again can vary.

- When is the earliest time I can schedule an interview? Is it after the paperwork reaches the NVCDepending how your embassy works, you can schedule one after you get your case number from NVC. Some embassies actually schedule the interview.

- Is there anything you did that made the process a little faster ?  Double check paperwork. Don't forget items in the petition. That's the main things. Depending on the embassy can also dictate if you should "Front load" or include a lot of information in the petition itself. For non high fraud countries, don't overload the petition. Just means more stuff for USCIS to have to go through and even possibly lose stuff. Sometimes too much information can be conflicting even.

Any answers are greatly appreciated ! Thank you to everyone in advance !

People on here have different dates on when they have been filing K1s or other visas - so our dates will typically look a lot different from what is going on now.

If you look at current processing times:

http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1historical

You'll see that the current average for the approval (known as NOA2) is about 196 days. After the approval process - your case goes to the NVC, which sometimes takes a few weeks, then to your individual consulate which also takes a few weeks. the only variability is on scheduling the interview. If you fill out your profile - it will connect you to a portal for the country/consulate you are dealing with, where you can reach out to others and see their timelines and how long it took them to get an interview.

The portal for Ukraine is here: http://www.visajourney.com/portals/index.php?country=Ukraine

A good average for a timeline is around 10 months for processing from start to finish.

Remember that there are many benefits to marrying and filing a CR1. In the "old days" (aka - a few years ago) a K1 petition was taking about 4 months from start to finish - now it's significantly longer. Add on to it the adjustment of status (currently taking 4-6 months after marriage and filing) and the inability of the beneficiary to work/travel and sometimes even drive until all that takes place and you will see that the CR1 is a far superior visa with only slightly longer processing times (currently 12-14 months start to finish).

You may want to consider this as a possibility too.
