Hello,

My I-130 was approved last month and USCIS has sent my petition to the NVC. I wonder why they did this considering I specified I was going to do AOS here in the US.

I have contacted USCIS Contact Center and they asked me to get in touch with the NVC.

Does anyone know the best way to contact NVC to request for an approved I-130 case to be returned to USCIS? Which is most effective medium- Phone call, email or physical mail?

All suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you!

You should call them.

We will update this information every week. We ask that you make a subsequent inquiry only if you do not receive a response to your email within our published timeframe above. Duplicate inquiries slow our ability to respond to you in a timely manner.

Phone (for immigrant visa inquiries only):
(603) 334-0700. Please be advised that the NVC has temporarily changed the hours of operation for our call center.  Customer Service Representatives are available from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays.  Due to high call volumes, wait times can be in excess of 30 minutes.  Many of your questions can be answered in the FAQS section of this web site, and updates to your case can be found by logging into the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC).

Nope, I765 just in the status of Fingerprint Review Was Completed since March.

I opened a SR for I485, however, the request is not assign to any officer yet.

Hi @thepanda, my I-130 was not approved yet at the time of the interview, so the officer was trying to get it transferred to the office, which they did months later. Which is very similar to your case. I had interview in June 2018, and I-130 approved in November 2018. Now waiting. I have heard nothing back from either service request or email to the senator's office. Might plan to write to ombudsman in the next few weeks. I think my case is forgotten. ( Now seeing your post that July VB is current, whaaaat? What about us who's been waiting)

I submitted EAD renewal around a month ago, and have already got receipt, which adds 180 to my EAD, meaning it expires Jan 2019. Yet I see the processing time is long(5-8months). I do not want to lose my hard-earned job! I might look into expediting it around November. Do you think that is a good timeframe for expediting it?

I think November is a good time to expedite.

Since it took them 3 months to transfer my i-130 to the local office, I believe it takes them another 3 month to transfer it elsewhere (mine was transferred to Texas or NBC or something). And then it probably will sit there on the shelf for a couple more months. I hope to get my GC soon. This is very frustrating. If the visa bulletin would have become current in March I would have gotten approved for the i-485 at the same time.

I raised a Service Request today online and it worked. (Last time I raised a ticket it didn't go through because I was not out of normal processing time). I checked the Case Tracker online before I submitted the request. My account didn't show any update and still doesn't.

Guess what I got in the mail when I got home? I signed up for the USPS e-mail notification and didn't know I would get a letter from USCIS. I thought it was the receipt notice for my work permit renewal. It is actually my i-485 approval. :) It says to contact them again if my card does not arrive within the next 90 days. I am so happy!

Timeline:

PD April 2017

Submitted AOS - May 2018

Interview - November 2018

i-130 approval - March 2019

i-485 approval - June 2019

Looks like my i-485 was transferred to NBC afterwards.

Update: the "old" case tracker just updated and it says "Card was mailed to me". For my i-130 approval they only updated the new case tracker. A little messy but I am so happy! I will keep you guys updated when I receive the Green Card in the mail.

Just wanted to give an update and idea about how long it takes for the card arrives as soon as you get approval:

PD April 2017

05/18 - Submitted AOS

11/18 - Interview

03/19 - i-130 approval

06/13/19 - i-485 approval & new card was ordered

06/18/19 - received i-797 (i485 approval letter) & case tracker (old) update: GC was mailed to me

06/19/19 - Case Tracker (old) updated to "Card was picked up by USPS" & tracking number provided

06/21/19 - estimated delivery according to USPS tracker
