Hi @hyhy,

no update on my case yet. My I130 has been sent to USCIS.

Last i heard an AOS applicant who had interview in oct 2018 with Dec 5, 2016 PD received his GC this week.

So fingers crossed......

Hi @senpal86

Thank you for the info.

I had AOS interview in Sept. 2018 with 130 PD: Jan, 2017 (which is current as of this month).

After the interview, I received a letter (mailed) from field office saying that the case will be transferred back to NBC due to no visa is available.
So far, I haven't heard any update...

My 130 approval notice was saying that my 130 has been sent to NVC, so I am not sure if this affects processing time or not.

As you said, fingers crossed.

You can go to this link and put the zip code of your residence in the box to find the field office serving your area.

Thanks @AhsanTX ! Santa Ana, CA is the local office and 14.5 - 23.5 months for processing 485. my receipt date is March 23rd 2018 and Receipt date for a case inquiry is March 17, 2017. I guess I have to wait another year to send case inquiry :(.

I didn't find any official document literally saying we can unlimited renew EAD card, but in the i765 instruction top of page 24 saying

Renewal EAD. If this is a renewal application and you are applying under one of the following categories, a filing fee is
not required for:
...
...
...
(c)(9) or (c)(16) Any current Adjustment of Status or Registry applicant who filed for adjustment of status on or after
July 30, 2007, and paid the appropriate Form I-485 filing fee.

I can’t find anything that explicitly says that you can renew EAD several times until a decision is made, but it is kind of implied that you can keep renewing as long as you are still eligible to receive an EAD from the categories listed in the instructions.

Congrates.

I called USCIS and asked about my case. My PD is current this month, and had AOS interview last June. Had not heard back since. customer service told me processing time in Chicago is 12-32 months, it has been 13 months for me since filing, so weight till 19 months later to submit a request.

I’m planning to travel abroad next month, hope green card is issued after I come back, so that AP won’t be canceled.

Best of luck on waiting everyone!

Hi QAF2A,

You can us AP document as much as you can. If it's 1 year document, you can travel multiple times in a year.
If you still don't get your GC, you can renew your AP 120 days before the expiration date.

Best,

METEHIKI

What QAF2A is saying yes that she’s hoping to be approved after she comes back from travelling abroad.

If you are traveling abroad and your GC is approved during time, your AP is automatically cancelled and you can’t return without the GC. At that point it doesn’t matter if your AP is still valid or not. It will become invalid the second your GC is approved.  Someone would have to mail the GC which is always a little concerning because you never know if it could get lost on the way.

My date is current in April (new visa bulletin). I’m really happy but since my paperwork was transferred I wouldn’t be surprised if it took another 3 months for me to receive my GC. So exactly when I’m abroad ... (this is only a guess)

Me too, I am also just current in April bulletin. It took the Chicago office 1 and a half month from submitting I485 till interview scheduled. I hope they slow down a bit this time.

For the previous worries, you are understanding me so right! I did call and ask about if you are abroad and GC is issued what to do. They told me you could talk to the CBP officers, and it is not the applicant's fault.

I just got my plane ticket for later this month. If before my travel date comes, I get I485 approval letter but not the card, I guess I have to let my plane ticket go to waste.

On the other hand, we need to be really careful, if you have applied for renewal, you cannot use the AP to travel, otherwise the renewal is considered abandoned.

So there is not that much time to use AP.

@thepanda I do also want to ask you, what kind of documents do we need to bring while traveling abroad? I know passport and AP card for sure, anything else that we need? Thanks in advance!

Oh wow. You are right. I did not consider that we can’t renew our AP and still travel without abandoning our application. My main goal is to extend my EAD anyways. It’s expiring in August. I’d just reapply when I come backfor AP because I’m going apply for a reveal end of April and I’m travelling in July.  What a mess. Would the EAD also be considered abandoned?

Passport inf AP that’s it. I travelled abroad twice so far with my AP and it was always the same process. First inspection, secondary inspection, stamp and I was free to go. They only asked me a question during my second trip. The officer asked me what my story was. I gave him a short and quick summary.

Actually, according to USCIS website, as long as your current AP is valid for the entire time you are abroad, the pending I-131 (renew AP) will not be considered abandoned.

You can find more information on the below website. Check "Special Instruction" part.

Thanks! You are absolutely right.

@QAF2A FYI

“If you file Form I-131, Application for Travel Document, to request an advance parole document and depart the United States without possession of an advance parole document that is valid for the entire time you are abroad, your Form I-131 will be considered abandoned. At times, an individual may have an approved advance parole document while a second one is pending. Individuals may travel on the approved advanced parole document, provided the document is valid for the entire duration of the time abroad. The pending Form I-131 will not be considered abandoned in this situation.”
